Milan have held initial talks with Napoli over full-back Andrea Dossena, according to the player’s representative.

The Rossoneri are in the market for a new left-back and the former Liverpool defender is one of their targets.

Dossena has fallen behind Juan Zuniga in the pecking order at San Paolo and he is now pondering summer exit.

The player’s representative has added fuel to the transfer talk by revealing that Milan and Napoli have spoken about his client.

“I spoke to Napoli, and they have had a chat with Milan, but Dossena’s contract lasts until 2014 so it is up to them,” agent Roberto La Florio said to Sky Sport 24.

“If Napoli decide against keeping him then a new scenario will open, especially considering we are talking about an experienced player who plays in the delicate position of left-back – and players of his type are difficult to find in this market.”

With Djamel Mesbah nearing a switch to Torino, Milan could stay with Luca Antonini as the only left-back in the squad and it is no wonder the Rossoneri are pondering a move for Andrea Dossena.

The 30-year-old managed to resurrect his career at San Paolo following a disappointing spell with Liverpool, but he is no longer considered a first team regular by Walter Mazzarri.

Sky Sports understands Borussia Monchengladbach remain favourites to land Junior Hoilett, but he has held talks with five Premier League clubs in recent weeks.

And Sky Sports has also learnt that his current club Blackburn have made a concerted effort to try and keep him.

Hoilett has long been linked with a move back to Germany, where he spent time on loan earlier in his career.

The 22-year-old Canadian-born striker also speaks fluent German and his brother plays there.

But he is still considering his options in England and a host of clubs have stepped up their interest in recent weeks.

Sky Sports understands, Tottenham, Queens Park Rangers, Liverpool, Newcastle and Everton have all had contact with the player's representatives in recent weeks.

Hoilett is currently believed to be in England with his family, continuing talks.

Borussia, though, hope that the lure of UEFA Champions League football will win the day for them.

Liverpool appear to be the new favourites to buy Chelsea's Daniel Sturrudge, a move that makes plenty of sense ...

We have been linked with a few ***over priced*** english players this summer, so who (if any) will we sign

Adam Johnson
Theo
Sturridge
None of them

I had a chat with a good mate today who was with BR at the weekend at a family gathering in NI. BR said it had gone quiet with Gylfi and he wasn't hopeful. BR spoke more about Borini. He said he would love to pair him with Luis up front - he doesn't think Andy fits his system. He said they were in talks. Ayre rang 3 times during the course of the evening.

BTW, he is not a fan of our midfield - lots of runners but not enough ball players, but is a big fan of Agger.

Great. Thats wonderful. I hope he does something about it.
Agger ftw.

Seems a little strange that Rodgers would discuss such details at a barbeque.
He keeps his cards extremely close to his chest, so it sounds a bit fishy.

*suddenly interested*

wouldnt be too hard to train it out of him i dont thin, brenden would do a good job at it too

I wonder about that. Neither Citeh nor Chavski have fully managed it yet. Sturridge is talented, no question, but we'd need to be very sure where his head's at before paying what will no doubt be a big fee for him.

He doesnt like playing out wide though, and I'm thinking thats were we would play him.
I think good forwards are selfish, if not they fucking should be.
Luis is not exactly shy of having a pop when it could be interpreted as better options..................sign him

Suarez is somewhat selfish but Sturidge takes it to another level.
I think Suarez would be less selfish if his team-mates were up to his standard.
I'm exaggerating I know, but I don't want to us to get ripped off by Chelsea. We won't get him cheaply and he's on a heft wage.
