I think he is too old to be joining a league he has previously struggled in, unless he was on a free.Forlan would be a great buy.
we need a backup.I think he is too old to be joining a league he has previously struggled in, unless he was on a free.
It wasn't and I was rather disappointed with him.His performances in the Euro's weren't encouraging. I still think he's a good player.
And how exactly does that negate anything I said in my original post?we need a backup.
It doesnt. I'd happily take him for a reasonable price or free of course and I think he has proved that he's a better player than he was during his short stint at Man U.And how exactly does that negate anything I said in my original post?
It wasn't and I was rather disappointed with him.
In his defense he had played almost a game a week for the past two years (with U21 Euros for Denmark last Season stealing his vacation) and he has now been given an extraordinary 3 weeks prolonged vacation.
According to sources inside the Ajax ranks they were extremely afraid that he'd get severely injured during the Euros as he was running very low on fuel even before teaming up in the Denmark camp.
Don't know how much it influenced him but he did look over-matched at times. Which I personally have never seen before. So until proven otherwise it was a good learning platform for him, with the increased pressure and expectations, that will only make him stronger.
Yeah he won't play for them again the U21s, he almost didn't last year either but got talked into it as it was in Denmark, etc.I think he needs to challenge himself by going to a bigger league sooner or later and quit playing for the U21s.
Forlan would be a great buy.

And you could be right with re to move, Eriksen has now won the Dutch league twice in a row and especially in this last Season he was their star-performer alongside Vertonghen and Siem De Jong (the older brother to Luke).
And as Ajax has bought Schöne who's a very similar albeit not nearly as good a player as Eriksen they have been bolstering in his position.
He's very alike Agger as a type and probably even better on the ball even though it has to be said it's easier against the Willem IIs than Chelseas to look so. A balll-playing defender he is indeed. Lefty as well and can play in a holding midfield role as well.Vertonghen is pretty much Agger II in Fifa 12. High praise. Do you think you could give a quick scouting report on him.

He does however seem much more prone to the occasional fuck up. It is probably one of Agger's biggest strengths, that he doesn't make that many fuck-ups over the course of the Season whereas Vertonghen has got a tendency from what I've seen to suddenly give the ball away to the nearest opponent. Something that will be punished severely at a higher level. This could of course also be related to the lack of quality in opponents at time hence a lower concentration.
He's only two years younger than Agger so I'm not completely convinced he'll become one of the best defenders in the league but when on his game he is a joy to watch.
I wouldn't think twice about in Holland but not so sure when it's in the Prem. He sure can play though but probably lacks a bit of agility/quick feet to make that spot his own.Wow great report, that sounds like it fits in with AVBs style. Does he exceed at the holding midfield role?
How much is Henderson on?
Yeah, have to make a stand somewhere. I can see how Gylfi might have felt short-changed by our offer though.60k. Two wrongs and all that though, it looks like we're trying consciously this season to implement a structure and an ability to work within restrictions.
Or in short, it looks like we're tightening the purse strings to right past wrongs.
Why? Hes had half a dozen games in the top flight. How does that warrant 2m a year?We should have raised our offer to 40k, thats not unreasonable considering how well he played last season. I can understand why Rodgers felt aggrieved considering he knows Sigurdsson had accepted 30k for Swansea, however I also don't blame Sigurdsson for going for the bigger offer.

30k would have been more than i would have said he should be on. With an option to review on a year. Prove you are worth 50k and you get it.
We shouldnt offer silly wages for new/young players.
