If we could get Johnson for less then 12m it would be great.
Sturridge would cost a lot.
I dont really think we will be in for either.
Im expecting euro and SA starlets of 17 to 22 age

Funny isnt it. Id love Sturridge and Johnson as I think they would both improve us instantly but others are dead against.
I reckon whichever player you name SOME posters will be down on.
'Ronaldo!?! He never passes and doesnt track back, plus he goes missing in the big games'

Aye - They'd be big players for us, me thinks.

Wanted johnson for ages and was excited when there was rumours of a Sturridge + cash deal for Nando.

I think that is a little unfair.

If asked whether Sturridge and Johnson would improve our team I think 100% of Liverpool supporters would answer 'Yes'. Is that the right question though? A lot of Liverpool supporters thought that Downing would improve our team last year. Maybe to some extent he did / still can but the we all now know that the right question was "Is Downing the best we can do for 20M?". The answer was and remains 'No'.

The same thing applies here. I like Sturridge. I think Johnson has talent. Both would immediately improve our first team. Is it the best use of 30M though? I'm not sure that it is.

I like that Johnson is not only a genuine wide player but one who can play equally effectively on either wing, which isn't as common as all that, and it's been obvious for some time that Sturridge has genuine talent. I don't like that they seem to be a pair of Billy Big Bollocks who can sulk when left out or, in Sturridge's case, played other than in his favourite position. We'd need to make careful enquiries into where both players' heads are at, as well as what they can do with their feet.

True! Even Messi needs a team around him to pass to and receive from! What else does he do except to score? LOL.

I reckon Sturridge is worth every penny of 15m. He's quick, direct, knows where the goal is and will only improve over the next 2-3 years (having improved markedly over the past 2). He's also got something to prove.

How many young players get sent on loan to a premiership club (Bolton) and make an immediate impact, firing the goals that keep them up? He then had an excellent start to this season at Chelsea (being their top scorer up to Christmas from a wide position) before Di Matteo played it safe with the old guard.

He'd be a perfect fit at Anfield. Yes please.

i'm concerned about sturridge's mental strengh, he has had everything at a young age, and i;m not sure he has the resilience to really grind our performances on top of his natural ability.

I think he's a bit of a cock too, but that would be a great signing.
Stop worrying about the money people that's not our job

I'm not convinced by Adam Johnson. He'd definitely be an improvement on Downing so would be a step in the right direction if we replaced him like for like, however, I'm not convinced he's hungry enough. I'd rather we spent money on players who are still improving.

Its not worrying about the money that got us downing, Henderson and Carroll wasting over 70m. Johnson is lazy and too inconsistent. I like sturridge, good goalscorer who went into a sulk when pushed out wide. He's strong and clinical in front of goal.

Wouldnt mind Sturridge and Johnson, but for that kind of money? No.

Overpriced and wont improve the first team dramatically. Are a lot better options in other leagues where the prices wont be inflated.

I'm really surprised that most seem to be a bit "meh" about Sturridge.

He's a real 24 carat prospect.

Who knows, he's still a cracking striker though and a great prospect. I'm surprised he never made the Euro's.

Overpaid, Shite, Useless, Hate, Selfish......some of the words used to describe Sturridge and Johnson there.
Not REEEEAAAALLY suggesting that posters think they would improve us Ken.

Anyway im not really talking about these specifics, im just saying start a thread on ANY player and SOME posters will be against it. And i dont mean the 'same' SOME. I mean differnt posters.
Strange i think.
Like someone suggested Xabi and SOME posters were like 'Too old' 'No good for our new style' etc XABI ALONSO!! We finished 8th!! And SOME posters would say no to Xabi Alonso.
If you started a thread on almost ANYONE, SOME posters would be against it.
I just find it strange is all.

Inter “made enquiries after Sebastian Giovinco and will see what happens over the next few days,” confirmed director of sport Piero Ausilio.

There were reports over the weekend that the Nerazzurri were trying to intercept the negotiations between Parma and Juventus, the two clubs who co-own the Atomic Ant.

If they do not agree on how to continue the co-ownership deal or sell the remaining 50 per cent of his contract, Giovinco could go to a blind auction.

“We have made enquiries after Giovinco by contacting Parma,” noted Inter director of sport Ausilio on Sky Sport Italia.

“We are tracking the player and will see what happens over the next few days.”

Milan are thought to be closing in on a low-cost swoop for Napoli and former Liverpool winger Andrea Dossena.

According to the Corriere dello Sport this morning, the Italian international will be released in the summer if Napoli sign Aly Cissokho instead.

The Rossoneri are ready to take advantage of the opportunity to snap up the 30-year-old for practically nothing.

Dossena would also be willing to reduce his wages, spreading the €5m over three years rather than two.

Meanwhile, there are also reports that contract renegotiation talks with Mathieu Flamini have hit problems, so the former Arsenal man could leave on a free transfer.

If he is then why won't Chelsea keep him?

Because they're making a mistake?

Modo, you seem to be forgetting that you are advocating signing Dos Santos, a player bombed out of pretty much every side he hasn't managed to get in the first team for.

Sturridge has got talent, but 15mill? We've signed enough overpriced English players. There are better alternatives out there.

And if he doesnt like playing out wide, where will we play him?

Different managers have different ideas.. AVB preferred sturridge over torres but di matteo didn't. Plus if they buy hulk the new manager won't have much of a choice. With them having spent so much on hazard torres Mata and hulk there just isn't any space for sturridge. Doesn't make sturridge poor.

The agent of Ajax defensive midfielder Vurnon Anita has revealed that Newcastle United have made an offer for the 23-year-old.

Anita has seen himself become a key player in Frank De Boer’s side this season, making 33 appearances en route to the Eredivisie title in 2011-12, with his ability to play at full-back also proving useful.

Harry Lulofs, the player’s representative, has now fuelled a move to England, claiming the Magpies are keen to land the Netherlands international, while he also added that Norwich City expressed an interest before coach Paul Lambert left for Aston Villa.

Speaking to The People, Lulofs said: “Ajax are very satisfied with the guy [Anita] and want to keep him, but Newcastle have been watching him for a long time and really want to sign him.

"This is the first offer Ajax have received for Vurnon and we'll soon see how they react.

"The only other Premier League club to get in touch was Norwich. Paul Lambert called me to ask about him.

"Now he has moved to Aston Villa so maybe they will be in touch. I don't know."

We should get anyone Newcastle are after.
That said, I know nothing about Anita.
