It's like when Frodo put the ring on and Suaron's big ol' fiery eye goes:

"Hang on, what's going on over THERE then ?!!".

Flippin' hell !

You're a bringer of false promises. You're so Buddha circa 2011.
Real won't want to let him go to Man City.
They don't want to strengthen Champions league rival.
We are an attractive option for loans from them because of this

What a distraction the Euros are. If it wasn't for them, it would be a nightmare - a week and a half of almost no news.

Sturridge would be a very good signing imo. He has bags of talent.

Needs to improve in certain aspects - have better awareness, increase his work-rate etc but there's no doubting his pace and ability to finish.

He was starting to fulfil some of his promise early on last season and that's even when played in a wider role when his best position is a central striker.

All for this if it comes off.

Schalke manager Huub Stevens has confirmed that his side are in talks with Tottenham star Rafael van der Vaart’s representatives.

The Dutchman has insisted that he wants to remain at White Hart Lane but a reunion with the man who was his manager at Hamburg might be a tempting offer.

“His qualities are tremendous,” Stevens told Voetbal International. “Schalke won’t say no to Van der Vaart, I still know him from our mutual stay at Hamburger SV and would like to join forces with him again.

“We are in contact with his agent. I’m on holiday right now, but I’m in touch with Schalke general manager Horst Heldt on a daily basis about our plans.

“I don’t know how Raf himself feels about a return to Germany. I haven’t spoken him yet, he’s with his mind on the Euros.

“His agreement with Tottenham is still running, so it seems that we have to pay a transfer sum in case he would come.

“Let’s be clear: if Raf really wants to come, he’s more than welcome. If we have this opportunity to contract him, which looks quite reasonable, we won’t miss our chance.

“The attacking midfielder position, it is possible to shuffle within our squad. Julian Draxler, for example, is only 18-years-old, while Van der Vaart is a very experienced player.”

Sky Sports understands that Manchester United are in pole position to seal the signing Crewe starlet Nick Powell. http://bit.ly/KKYDAE

Manchester United have reportedly agreed a deal to beat Liverpool to the signing of young English superstar Nick Powell in a deal worth £4million.
Sir Alex Ferguson has finally succeeded after trying to put together a deal to bring the Crewe Alexandra youngster to Old Trafford for a number of weeks, according to the Daily Mail. The deal with the Red Devils is reportedly worth £2million up front and will double depending on appearances.

The Anfield club were also reported to be lining up an offer for the 18-year-old, but it seems their Premier League rivals have beaten them to the punch and completed a deal for one of the most highly rated young players in England.
New Reds boss Brendan Rodgers had reportedly earmarked Powell as the first of his signings on Merseyside, but he will now have to make do with other options.

FWIW there was a discussion about him on TalkSh!te a little while ago and one or two Crewe fans phoned in to say that, while he's obv.a very good player, they detected a bit of an attitude problem with him at times and weren't 100% convinced he'd make it.

if he's signing for the Mancs, Im quite prepared to accept the views of the Crewe fans.

Monday 11 June 2012
Liverpool are ready to offer €10m in order to secure the services of Barcelona front-man Christian Tello, suggest reports in Sport.

The Reds are hoping to convince the Blaugrana youngster, who forced his way into Pep Guardiola’s first team netting seven times in 22 appearances.

New manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to bolster his attacking line for the new season and has earmarked the 20-year-old as a possible incomer.

And the Merseyside outfit will be alerted to the news that the Catalan side are prepared to listen to offers for Tello.
