The NBA thread - 2010/11

This season has been so heartbreaking. Worst Liverpool side in ages. And the complete dismantling of a wonderful Suns team.

Trading Nash isn't really a solution. I don't see him fetching great re-building pieces from any contender. Kind of pointless. We have some good assets, if the correct (bold) moves are made, we might just be back in the mix.

Fuck you Lebron! 😉

The losing streak has been long, painful and embarrassing.

Now it’s historic.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have the NBA’s record for futility all to themselves.

Cleveland’s losing streak reached 24 games on Saturday night as Wesley Matthews(notes) scored 31 points and LaMarcus Aldridge added 20 to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to a 111-105 win over the pitiful Cavs, who are yet to win in 2011 and have lost a mind-boggling 34 of 35.

They are dreadful.

They host the Wizards next week. Washington have lost all 24 road games this season.

The universe could come to an end when these two meet.

He's easily the most fun in the league right now. He is ridunkulous. I'm sure the Clippers will find a way to ruin him though.

I've only seen some highlight reels, but he makes me want to watch more basketball

He's a one man team. Had a run of twenty seven double-doubles, which, frankly, is absurd. He's on the bench in the all star game. I don't even remember the last rookie to get selected. He'll be in the dunk contest too. Not sure how good his stunt dunks are, but he just bulldozers motherfuckers in open play. Against the Knicks he just jumped over Mozgov and monstered it.

If he can get a few more assists (tough as he scores for fun) then he could average over 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the year. The first two are in the bag for sure.

Blake Griffin is fucking awesome.

I think the last rookie was Duncan, so Blake's in good company.

ESPN already stirring up the shit by saying Blake's future is in LA, but with the Lakers. Like Golgotha said, he would be a monster if he gets a few more assists. Imagine him in the triangle!!!

Bill Simmons not too long ago suggested the Clippers needed to change things up to re invent themselves and suggested (jokingly) that they change the teams name to the LA BLakers.

Jesus. So what's that? Ten, twelve years?

Cavs set the record for NBA consecutive losses. If they lose two more games they'll be on the worst streak in American professional sports history. Lovely.

Melo to Lakers? uh oh

I don't think its a good move because the Lakers' strengths include the 2 7 footers. Playing Gasol at centre will weaken the team tremendously and there's no viable backup centre. I also dont know if Anthony and Kobe can co-exist. Both need the ball to play.

Bynum for Deron on the other hand...

Jerry Sloan will resign as coach of the Utah Jazz on Thursday, according to media reports in Salt Lake City.

Nofuckingway! I thought he will be there forever.

He's going to be missed.

He's officially resigned now.

His 360 and the elbow dunk were huge, but the whole thing was the car was like an extended advert. The league were anointing him. They should have lined the car up with it's rear on the free throw line and had him run up the front and do a 360 from way out. And probably kill himself. I'd have voted for that.

Also, Ibaka was robbed. He went large, taking off from behind the foul line. Even Jordan had his foot on the line. And he got a 45 for it? Get out. If Griffin had done that shit they would have shut the league down. McGee deserved to win on his first round dunks though, even if they took a few goes. Two and three balls? Dude's a spider.

I do love a good dunk though. And the All star Weekend is a million times better than the Pro Bowl. They should bin off the Pro Bowl game and do some sort of crazy Combine for the pros. QB shootouts, ridiculous long catch competitions, whatever. It'd have to be better than the shambles of a game we see these days.

I want to see Roethlisberger throwing balls out of the back of a jeep and Larry Fitzgerald making catches off trampolines.

Exactly. Seriously, the car dunk was rubbish. Any decent dunker would have pulled it off. Between Griffin and McGee, McGee certainly deserved it for bringing something far more creative (though not really breathtaking). And Ibaka really deserved a 50 for the free throw line dunk.

The dunk contest is anyway boring now. I've never enjoyed one since 2006 where Iguodala was so blatantly robbed. They need to re-invent somehow. Get rid of the 6-10 scoring for one and allow decimal points .

Griffin is a hero and you all should be ashamed of yourselves for denigrating his achievement.
