The Manager

Normally it takes seventy plus points to get forth though late sixties have been enough.
However in 03/04 we qualified with sixty points while the following season Everton were forth on sixty one.
I reckon that mid sixties might be enough to claim forth spot this season though whether we can claim forty points from our remaining twenty games is debatable unless Sturridge coming back(and staying fit) makes the difference we all hope it does.

I could almost hear BR when I typed 'ourselves' there. In the same way I roll my 'r's when I say 'concentration'.

Positive outlook: Rodgers' teams traditionally do significantly better in the second half of the season; signings are bedding in a little more; Rodgers has made some interesting changes and subs recently which have worked well; Sturridge is close to return and Balotelli will get better.
Negative outlook - to challenge for fourth we need to put some good results together, and we do not look solid enough to do that right now. Wins against Swansea and Leicester are needed - maybe that would fuel a second-hand run - but I don't see it.

Having a little time on my hands, I went and calculated the avg pts per game for us for the first and second half of the seasons. I also did it for Swansea for the 11/12 season too:

H1 H2
Swansea 11/ 12 1.05 1.42
Us 12/13 1.32 1.89
Us 13/14 1.89 2.53
Us 14/15 1.47 ???

It's fairly consistent and quite marked, albeit a small sample size. He got fired at Reading after the first half of the season if I recall correctly so maybe another slow start there too.

It was also one of the things the media used to spunk all over fergie about - that his Manure were slow starters each season.

Good, because we need a return of about 2 points or more over the last 19 games to have a chance of CL football next season.

Alternatively - if we win our next 19 games, we're in with a chance of winning the league.

It's starting to look a lot better for our manager now. A number of our new signings seems to be settling in quite nicely and we're only 5 points off of 4th. If he can get DS back fit and make a couple of good buys in the Jan transfer window, then he'll be in with a great chance of turning this season into a successful one.

You know, when van Gaal came with all the "revolutionary" 3 at the back, most of the press and media were marveling at the genius that is King Loius. Heck even Redknpp recruited the England's best exponent of playing three at the back in Glen Hoddle. Now all have quietly binned these. Although it's early days, yet, Rodgers seems to be succeeding where others failed.

I no longer listen to or get vexed by 'Fans' like that.

I want Mr Rodgers to succeed. He makes me like Liverpool Football Club.
The players have started to play well for him and as a collective things look brighter.
The race for 4th is on with 3 trophies still to play for. Weve outplayed United and Arsenal recently and only taken a point from the games thanks to having no striker, but its January and we might get one. And Sturridge. And one defeat in our last 11 games.

Go Mr Rodgers

So we're going to get 45 points out of the remaining 57? Hot dang!
Ha. I'm pretty optimistic about our second half of the season, but even I think that's insane.

I think we can get top four, but only in the same way a Christian thinks they'll get to heaven when they die.

Stop with all this divinity pish.

Good players. Thats what we have. Sturridge and a keeper and we are bang on.

No more Mignolet and less Gerrard now please.

Also, Arsenal play Southampton next. It has scored draw with multiple injuries written all over it.
