Carlos Tevez has admitted criticism directed at Argentina's players led to him considering quitting international football.

Argentina qualified for the World Cup this week with a 1-0 win over Uruguay, prompting coach Diego Maradona to respond to a period of prolonged criticism of his tenure with some choice words in his post-match questioning.

FIFA have confirmed they will be looking into the incident and if found guilty, they could present Maradona with a five-match ban. And Manchester City's Tevez admits the majority of time international football does not put a smile on his face.

The former Manchester United and West Ham striker said: ''When I play for Argentina I spend more time suffering than enjoying myself. The fans insulted us, the journalists criticised everything.

''Sometimes I think about quitting the national team. Why should I come to Argentina and have a bad time?''

and another Argie story that Oncy will enjoy 😉

Napoli will investigate why Argentina forward Ezequiel Lavezzi arrived back late from international duty on Saturday, the Serie A club said.

"On Monday I will check with the Argentine federation to find out if he lost his passport or not," Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, who already had a fractious relationship with the striker, told reporters.

Coach Walter Mazzarri, who takes charge for the first time in Sunday's home game with Bologna, said his task was difficult enough without Lavezzi's late return from Argentina's World Cup qualifiers.

"He has been careless. Now that he's arrived, we will talk. I don't know how fit he is and if he can play tomorrow," he said.

Mazzarri has replaced Roberto Donadoni, who was sacked earlier this month because of a string of lacklustre displays and supporter discontent over tactics.

Sporting director Pierpaolo Marino was also dismissed but former Italy volleyball coach Gianpaolo Montali has turned down an offer from De Laurentiis to take Marino's place.

1758 GMT: Carlos Tevez shows no sign of letting up in his feud with Gary Neville as he describes his former Manchester United team-mate as a "boot-licking moron".

"My celebration was directed at Gary Neville," Tevez was quoted as saying in a radio interview with ESPN Argentina. "He acted like a complete sock-sucker [boot-licker] when he said I wasn't worth £25m just to suck up to the manager.

"What's the tarado [moron] talking about me for when I never said anything about him."

I suppose that even a complete idiot can deviate into sense occasionally 😉

Yes it is.

Ginsoak has just batted away questions about it in his weekly press conference.

"Not interested, he's not our player anymore, player's often say things about each other" blah blah LOL !
