This is not like when Klopp was at Dortmund. We are not losing games because team have learnt how to play against Klopp's Liverpool. This is down to some serious bad luck with injuries and a lack of financial backing from the owners
Disagree, we've been conceding to the same goal over and over again. First match of the season we conceded twice against Leeds because we put no pressure on the defensive player carrying the ball out who then hits a long pass into space behind our backline who cannot recover. A few weeks later we conceded 7 against Villa playing the same way (with VvD and Gomez). Last week we saw the exact same thing against both Chelsea and Fulham. The goal Mount scored last week is a carbon copy of the goal Harrison scored on opening day.

[article]Graham had not seen the game. But earlier that fall, as Liverpool was deciding who should replace the manager it was about to fire, Graham fed a numerical rendering of every attempted pass, shot and tackle by Dortmund’s players during Klopp’s tenure into a mathematical model he had constructed. Then he evaluated each of Dortmund’s games based on how his calculations assessed the players’ performances that day. The difference was striking. Dortmund had finished seventh during Klopp’s last season at the club, but the model determined that it should have finished second. Graham’s conclusion was that the disappointing season had nothing to do with Klopp, though his reputation had suffered because of it. He just happened to be coaching one of the unluckiest teams in recent history.[/article]
I think we have been here before ... where we start discussing what exactly happened, then we dont understand what exactly it is, we have some analysis from some random jabroni on twitterati or sky sports. Then we pretend like we understand what the problem is. Second step, we start thinking about the solutions which should have been already employed long back and some think about what we can still do to improve upon current standing. All that crazy analysis which will surely earn each poster here a "UEFA coaching license". Some beautiful, informative, in-depth, most holistic posts start appearing on the forum. Third step, some hopes arise because of a win like 2-0 against Sheffield United or even Leipzig. But of course we never knew what the problem was and that is why, all those fake turning points we always knew were always fake, they start appearing as fake as ever. In no time, the season is finished.
Next season, same manager or different manager ... we start improving, finish 2nd, no trophy. We start living with that because of hopes that at least this season is different.
But all that happened when Klopp was not there. I would strongly give my free of cost psychiatric advice here, just relax and enjoy the ride. Many in Germany will tell you, this is what you get with Klopp "an extreme ride of all the possible emotions in the world" - low and high both. Doesn't matter how much we break our head, just "expect the unexpected"

Edit: Oh, and this was the xPTs table on 26 January 2021. Had FSG backed Klopp earlier, how different would things have been? View attachment 1899[/QUOTE]
Kalidou Koulibaly... Had the backed him there we could have kept Herderson and Fabinho in midfield. It would have made a massive differnce to how we performed in games

In what world does £100M for a 29 year old defender make any sense ?
I think it depends - they may offer him that role or it may go to the current Bayern coach ? - is he German ( I don't know), or they could go for the guy at Chelsea maybe - could be tempting for him as he only has an 18 month contract at Cheslea and if he don't make the CL places then maybe will want to jump ship anyway.

Whilst there is obviously a balance. We are losing because team's have figured out that it is very simple to defend against us (deep and in numbers) and hit us on the break. We got away with this previously due to Gomez & VVD having great positioning and recovery pace in the past.
We are very one dimensional at present, and aren't doing anything to address it (until the past two games, but still no dice).

seems as if they will accept a lot less as 100m was thier starting point
"Napoli have reduced their asking price for Kalidou Koulibaly to around 45m euros (£38.7m), with Bayern Munich believed to be ahead of Liverpool and Manchester United in the race for the 29-year-old Senegal defender."

Not all the teams have beaten us that way, the loss of our three main CB, and moving Fab and Henderson to CB I believe has more to do with it than teams sussing out the high press

The method employed bu those teams is actually a survive first then try ball over top to get lucky. Its ballahit tactics and is totally reliant on the defenders maintaining their focus for the entire game. We just arnt moving those defenders around quickly enough to make them lose focus long enough to score.
