The Italian stallion

I'm starting to get excited. Bring the sexy stallion home.

3 years ago he would've been one of those marquee signings, and last season he played a season that earned him such recognition in the first place.

New striker who has work rate AND flair who will likely be above Gakpo and Nunez in the pecking order? Sign me up.

He's statistically worse than both of them, isn't he?

I'm not saying he couldn't be ahead of them, but in the case of Nunez, he can offer something no one else can, and in the case of Gakpo, there isn't that much in it, in quality, and they aren't going to directly compete that much, I wouldn't think, as Gakpo can't cover for Salah. He's also just short.

You never know - perhaps he'll do a Jota and really explode in better circumstances, but I don't see it. He'll just be another good option, exactly like Shaqiri. He's not going to be a direct long term replacement for Salah either but he gives our options more balance and we could then shed Diaz and perhaps Nunez and bring someone else in up the centre later on. There's no reason to necessarily need those goals to come from where they have been. The thing is, it's a very safe, low risk, low outlay decision which for me has a pretty limited ceiling, aka FSG all over.

If Chiesa plays anywhere close to his potential, he'll become an instant fan favourite.
This could be a top class signing.

To be fair, Jorginho has been reasonably good and by Destiny Udogie is Italian and needs mentioning for his name.

I actually agree that Nunez offers something different, but it’s also useful to have an alternative who means the team’s style & philosophy can have continuity.

I get there's love for him on the Kop and in here but oh my word he's a trial!

I know this move makes complete sense, we badly need backup / rotation options for Salah and he fits this role nicely, but by christ, I couldn't be any less enthused if I tried.
Please explain yourself for the benefit of the others. I want to hear why you are not enthused - please tell...
