The Italian stallion

Maybe the problem is, ever since Athens put the boot into his wife he agrees and now the very sight of her makes him sick!!!

It’s all very weird - he doesn’t look unhappy, unfit or injured and I’ve seen a few players talk about him being the fastest player in the squad.

@Farkmaster

I think it was in one of those clips where Jota was handing out the new version of FIFA or one of those clips when someone was wandering around the training ground asking questions.

If I find it again I’ll link it.

That's what I thought. If I remember it correctly they were amazed that he got a high rating on pace in the game. Not that he actually was that fast.

Yeah, I found the FC25 and the consensus was Darwin, Diaz & Cheesie where the fastest.

I’m sure I saw another similar type clinching where a couple of them actually said Cheesiec was the fastest… but I could well have dreamt that.

To be fair, the fastest speed he posted in Italy last season, at just over 36k/h would make certainly make him one of our fastest players.

Apparently this season, Trent has been our fastest!!!!

🗣Arne Slot on Federico Chiesa:

What he needs is playing time. The problem is, you haven't played for 5-6 months, it's difficult for a manager to give him his first minutes. Yes, I see him on the training ground but ideally you see him in a friendly game during the week or an U21 game. Maybe the Southampton game will be a good game for him to get some minutes, then we know a bit better what we can get from him. Of course, we see his qualities, we know his qualities, but he needs to get his fitness level, if you only have training sessions it's not the same as playing times. If you are competing for the league and the champions league it is not always to find these minutes unless you are 4-0 or 5-0 up .”

Still sounds a way off. "I'll only trust putting him on if we're 5-0 up is hardly a ringing endorsement of his current fitness level. As he says hopefully he does get some football against Southampton and can kick on from there.

I don't know the loan systems etc but I wonder if there's an option where we get him a 2 month loan somewhere to get minutes.

That's bullshit from Arne..
Honestly it sounds like if a player returns from an ACL injury mid season he's completely useless to Arne.
Chiesa is a 27 year old veteran in the game. League winner, Euro champion, it's not some fucking kid from the Academy.
Maybe Southampton, he says...
Fucking hell.

I don't really know anything about the guy but the first thought that came to mind was that he's found himself in a situation that's almost too good to be true and he doesn't want / is scared to fuck it up.

That might explain why he appears to be reluctant to rotate and sticks to that small trusted group of players that have performed for him thus far.

But it's equally plausible that he just really doesn't rate the likes of Endo et al and Chiesa is useless and needs shipping back to Italy pronto.

I guess we'll (I'll) learn more about him as time passes.
