The Italian stallion

i don’t know if this is applicable in his case with his injury history but has he just lost a yard or a bit of some other attributes that mean he’s just not at the level liverpool require?

maybe the gamble was that he’ll be good enough when he gets back to fitness and form but we’re realising he doesn’t have enough any more
As a first-teamer / Salah replacement that's a legitimate worry, but for someone to rotate in across the forward line I don't think it is. Post injury he was getting a goal every three games for Juventus and he's looking pretty dangerous/athletic in the limited games we've seen him. The way I see it is we used to lump Elliott and Jones at RW/LW on occasion. He can more than match that, whilst resting the legs of the proven players. Any more is a bonus.

Does anyone remember the Marcus Babbel situation? He was away from the first team for a while and then it came out a condition paralysed him from the knees down and was currently wheelchair-bound. That was probably the most horrific injury/condition-related thing I can remember for a player. It was a shame because he was brilliant and a decent guy.

yea i don’t know enough about chiesa at juventus but if he was doing to business to some degree before he arrived and is a proper wide forward then he must be somewhat competitive with the other right sided options.

maybe we see him in upcoming cup games and we’ll learn more about the situation, maybe we don’t see him and that’s all she wrote. strange situation given his pedigree and enthusiasm.

So according to the below he isn't even fit to train whole sessions. What do they do in Italy?
Federico Chiesa

Nov 26: 'Federico is not in the squad yet. He is training with us, not the whole session, but mostly one or two parts of the session.'

26th November.....

Also he isn't in Italy is he? He hasn't been for the best part of 3 months besides a few days when he travelled with the squad for the Milan game.

I think OP is trying to suggest they must do half assed training sessions in Italy if this cunt who had no reason to be unfit arrived here and couldn't even manage training sessions, let alone matches.

Did we not do a bleep test in the medical? Some things are just undefeated.

Jesus wept... At this point, even I would be able to last a full training session, even at this age, if we'd started in August and I had no other job!

What the absolute f$%@ is going on with this lad?

I’m sure the medicals are counting limbs followed by cupping balls and asking the player to cough.

Then maybe we need to set him his own training regime which he can overcome - one he's accustomed to? You can't play the number of games he did last season training 'half arsed', he just needs to get to the sharpness he showed during the euros. I have no idea what the intensity of our training sessions are like but I highly doubt they're anywhere near as intense as what the players go through on any given matchday.

This goes for all the injury prone players we have, don't overwork them in training if there isn't a need to.

Correct i did mean that. I just remembered he has had an injury and I guess they're managing him, they don't want a reoccurrence. They seem to be managing CJ really well at the moment

This is the second most amount of games Chiesa has missed in his entire career due to injury.
If we don't see him against Southampton in the cup, something is definitely up.

It really does suggest some form of long-term performance-limiting injury. I'm a 54 year old guy who went from couch to decent 5k in about 6 weeks. This guy is a professional athlete in his twenties, so it cannot just be about cardio-pulmonary fitness.

Maybe when he got here he discovered Crunchies and double deckers or something.

Ha! Dropped 25 lbs of visceral and subQ fat in 3 months. Clean bulked 10lbs of muscle. I also do Krav Maga 3 times a week and lift heavy twice a week now. In better shape than I have ever been.

I have a feeling the boy is going to get in soon and will be a good signing for us ultimately.
I'm still willing to be patient with him

At one point he was world class, its worth giving him additional time to prove himself.
