The Italian stallion

I remember drinking it a few times as a teenager. We only bought it because it was the cheapest beer the offie had. If I remember correctly it was only about 3.5% alcohol. And tasted like piss.
so you’re saying my dad didn’t have a sophisticated beer palate? i just remember the greens cans and big logo

Well, I was a kid and we were often drinking them at Cavehill temperature. So, perhaps I didn't enjoy them that much at the time.

Given how cut throat Slot has been with some players (including with Chiesa) I wonder if he will just cut him out and go back into the market for a player who is fit and can give us a reliable option up front for the second half of the season.

i used to fantasize about living in there for a weekend when i was a kid, living off tubs of haribo and playing with all the random junk
I remember going there as a kid and not understanding the concept of their prices at all. Everything just looked dead cheap and I'd ask for everything

same, every kid got a tub of something at christmas. it really was a wonderful place for youngsters. my wife has a card now but it’s totally shite, haven’t been in a few years

Think we just have to be patient with this kid and see what happens, Slot isn't stupid, if he has to give him six months to get fit and in the right place physically then so be it. It's hardly a massive financial gamble and we're in a good place with forwards and players who can fill in in an emergency.

Can't wait to have him back fit as a fiddle and fresh as a daisy for Villa.

Gonna be our 2nd half player of the season, no doubts about it.

It will be interesting to see what we do in the January window. If we are still right up there then the title is on (and maybe CL semis at least) and it would be prudent to invest. Given we didn't really in the Summer I imagine we will. But where?

My money would be on another midfielder. I can't see where else they'd invest at this stage of the season, with the squad we have now. Elliott, Jota and hopefully Chiesa to come back.

GKs - 3 - dead strong !
Forwards - 5+Chiesa, we're not investing there in January.
Midfielders - you do feel that, even with Elliott, we are one short for strong PL+CL challenges.
LBs - not needed in January
RBs - not needed in January
CBs - not needed in January with 4 very good players. Maybe maybe we could add one.

I guess it also depends on where Slot sees weaknesses and whether any identified players to bring in are available in Jan.

Seeing Tsimi start suggests to me that if a suitable alternative were available in the window then we would go for it.

Agreed midfielder, although fuck knows who could come in and settle quickly enough to make a suitable impact. Unless it was the AM role, I feel these roles are hardest to learn for Slot.

My brother-in-law has a taverna and goes to makro the odd time for the non-food and drink related stuff now and then. There was a period when my mother-in-law kept on asking him to pick up catering sized packs of cling film and tinfoil and she kept on giving them to us.

We now have enough tinfoil to wrap the flat in a layer so thick that it'll protect us from even the biggest nuclear warheads.

If you are painting woodwork with gloss paint, cling film is a handy tool - you can wrap your brush in it overnight, without cleaning it, and it is good to use the next day.

My wife has decided cling film is bad, so we have none in the kitchen anymore - I had to go buy a roll for my shed.

It is bad, but if the option is wrapping half an onion in it so it keeps a few days then it must be worth it. Surely? Unless there's another trick you can do.

haha have you made your own cling film trousers to wear in the shed?

*Ponders if this can work with a hard-on. Searches kitchen drawers.*

Oh she has this hippy dippy waxed paper that is washable & reusable for that

This is me, in Derry, in the early 80s

Bang on.

The only possible addition is if we see a cracking player at a cracking price in any position we think he’d improve.

I agree MF is most likely - I feel like we might consider a forward if the right one pops up.

On the onion debate.

I cut the whole thing and the put the half I'm not using in a zip lock bag thing and freeze it. Then use that in stews or whatever.

Is this a big old fuck up?

I have a little Tupperware thing that’s designed for 1/2 onions.

The missus is obsessed with Tupperware - to be fair, there’s some great stuff you can get.

Plus… “oh honey I spent $X on Tupperware”.. means… I can get the Lego orders in.

Bad idea (yes I got the joke). Onions should never be put in fridges (garlic ditto) it quickly leads to mould growth.

Putting full onions in a fridge is a no-no, but cut onion is different.

Also - isn’t chucking a full onion into the freezer for an hour or so one of the hacks for avoiding tears?

Put a spoon in your mouth. Amazingly even if the tears have started they'll stop immediately. Or a wet tissue next to the onion when being cut.
