Gerrard major issue (as detailed in his book) was his desire to earn 120k, not 90k.

Which in my mind drags him down to the level of such footballing loveables as Cashley Cole, John Terry and other greedy bastards of that ilk.
I guess we all see what we want to see. He certainly mentioned money but in no way did i get the feeling that was his motivation in handing in a transfer request. Something Xabi has yet to find the testicular fortitude to do.
Why did Gerrard refuse contract talks seven times after the initial offer of 90k a week ?
He didnt.

devil's advocate;
if he was paid what he was worth (clearly liverpool's best player) he wouldn't need to ask for a pay increase. has carra ever needed to ask for a pay raise? no offence but carra isn't in the top three liverpool players.
He has actually.

Rafa tried to get him to sign a contract without any money raise after the CL Final win, Carra was pissed off by that and refused. He eventually got his pay rise.

I'm pretty sure Gerrard was already our highest paid player at the time he was offered 90k a week. 90k a week would certainly have been more than anyone else was on, so why did he need 120k to show he was the best player in LIverpool ?

Nonsense. Complete fucking rubbish.

Gerrard didnt feel loved?

Benitez seems quite clear about selling Alonso in the past, and also has had issues regarding the whole baby scenario, a soundbite here and there to the media about keeping the payer may not really be what he is saying to Xabi, we don't know unless Xabi writes an autobio as wel.
Im not really arsed if im right or not Asim. You asked if i thought less of Gerrard. I answered honestly. There you go.

Xabi Alonso's move to Real Madrid is back on the cards, with Liverpool reportedly willing to consider a deal if Wesley Sneijder is included.

Alonso is seemingly intent on a move to the Bernabeu, but thus far the two clubs have failed to reach an agreement over a transfer fee.

According to The Times, however, Liverpool are now willing to accept a cut-price deal, if Wesley Sneijder is included in the package. The Reds are currently demanding €37million, a fee that Los Merengues are unwilling to match.

Despite the belief that all the Dutch players at Real Madrid are for sale, Manuel Pellegrini has stated that he considers Sneijder to be a vital part of the side. However, he might be willing to part with the Dutch midfielder in order to land Alonso.

It is expected that Alonso will not join the Liverpool squad on their pre-season tour to Asia, as both clubs continue to negotiate

Indeed, we should start rumors saying a swap deal with Kaka is on the cards, i know he's only just signed, but i think the papers would buy it.

I dont often post the insider information that I get, as if my source was exposed, it would have serious ramifications for him.

However, he's confirmed to me that 'if Alonso doesn't go, he is staying'

You heard it here first.
