If he does stay, then Rafa Benitez needs to log on and post 'I told you so' right before the thread is closed

WOW 100 pages.

So, ALONSO stay or leave? ;D
[/quote]

I think he is going to stay - its not usual for Real to stay in for a player for that long and not get a result - they lack any willingness to bid too long for a player in a single transfer window. This is good news for us anyway.

Regards,

Moron

100

One Hundred and it has not self destruct?

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

100 pages and we're still no clearer either way.

I reckon we'll know by...110.

(And 115 if you fuckers all have a guess to)

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

Here are 9 home grown players for the 8 spots needed

Casillas
Salgado
Ramos
Albiol
Torres (not the real one)
Javi Garcia (given his Spanish name, I'm assuming he is 'home grown')
Guti
De La Red
Raul

Who else would make up the remaining 17 for the CL squad ?

Dudek, Pepe, Heize, Metzelder, Garay, Marcelo (converted to LB), Diarra, Drenthe, Gago, Sneijder, VdV, Ronaldo, Kaka, Benzema, Robben, Higuain, RvN.

I can see the attraction in getting Arbeloa and Alonso in order to knock out the likes of Javi Garcia, De La Red or Salgado.

Plus the fact they are not exactly water tight in midfield or at the back with the current squad list, plus they have lost Cannavaro back to Juve though I think they need an enitre overhaul of the defence.

No - he is probably saying or thinking:

"I hate these cunts"
OR

"What the fuck am I doing here when I could be sitting on the bench with Ronaldo and Kaka and be part of something great"
OR

"I'm better than all this"
OR

"Fucking Rafa - he's a cunt"

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

Alonso has a strange puzzled look on his face 99% of the time. He's got that look, the "I'm so shocked I just shanked it into row Z, you'd think being such an accurate passer I'd have a better shot" look, and the gay for Gerrard/whoever just scored look.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

Isnt the fact hes there a very very good sign?
If hes on the far east plane that left at midnight id say thats the end of it and we'll keep him.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

Just as long as we don't sell him with little time to recruit a replacement.

He's not really aged well, has he? That ginger beard needs to go.

Didn't Michael Owen sit on the bench at the Arnold Schwarzenegger under similar circumstances a day or two before Madrid whisked him out of it all?

I've gotta agree with those above ^^^^^^, his body langauge doesn't look good.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

Alonso admits Real desire
But midfielder won't ask for transfer

Liverpool star Xabi Alonso has admitted he is flattered to be linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Big-spending Real have been courting Alonso all summer as they look to rebuild their squad after a disappointing campaign last term.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Karim Benzema have already arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer and Alonso is the next player in Real president Florentino Perez's sights.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is loath to lose Alonso as he looks to keep hold of his best players for another assault on the Premier League title this season.

Real are believed to be unwilling to meet Liverpool's current valuation of Alonso, but they are refusing to give up their pursuit of the midfield playmaker as they look to create a new team of Galacticos.

Alonso admits he would be interested in joining Perez's revolution, but insists he will not try and force the issue by asking for a transfer.

"It's always a great feeling when Madrid want you, especially considering the phase of the career I am in now," Alonso told AS.

"But at this point, as I have always said, whether or not that can happen is not up to me. It's a matter that involves three parties, including myself.

"I do not like to force the issue. I prefer to talk.

"Madrid's project is certainly impressive. But beyond that, I can't tell you anything else."

Alonso revealed he will hold talks with Benitez over his future during Liverpool's pre-season training camp in Austria.

"I will talk to him, sure, but the first thing to do when I arrive [in Austria] is to greet him," he commented.

"But I imagine that in the next few days, there will be time for all that, even though in reality, there's nothing in particular to talk to Rafa about. It's the clubs who have to negotiate to reach an agreement."

Asked why Liverpool had rejected Real's initial overtures, Alonso said: "I am not the man who can answer these questions.

"The truth is that I cannot say much, because every little thing can be misinterpreted. And I do not know how things will turn out either because I am not a fortune teller."

that pretty much tells me.. he wants out!!!
