Red? Brown? Perhaps a nice Marie Rose to stay with the gazzetta theme?

As you were, everyone.

Haha, wow. I think it was a "joke" or something, cause I'm quite sure he knows that "source" isn't spelled "sauce" 🙂

It should've said;

It is de rigueur on many football sites to request a "sauce" for various rumours rather than a source.

Weren't Arsenal in for him last summer?

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

I've only seen Inler for the Swiss last year and didnt seem too special in that opening match in the Euros.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

Some bloke on Sky has claimed he just asked Alonso about any offers and Xabi said 'I cannot talk about it'. Then Perez has said, 'until the end of August there's time to talk'. Why not cut out the middle man and sign for the mancs now, you Owenesque dolt?

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

Or the below. I'm sorry if it's confusing.

Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso, heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, seems to be on his way out of Anfield, with his agent refusing to answer whether there have been any offers for his services.

Los Blancos have reportedly been in close contact with the player's agent, Inaki Ibanez, and there have been reports that the a deal is currently being negotiated.

Further fuel was added today to the fire of speculation surrounding the cultured midfielder, with the player's representatives telling Sky Sports News that they "couldn't answer [their] questions" regarding whether or not there had been any offers for the player.

Sky also reports los Merengues' chairman Florentino Perez as saying, "Xabi Alonso is a great player.

"From next week until August there is time for negotiations."

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

yeah right, we'll let him go on deadline day...

far from done and just Real playing games.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

I really dont understand why there is even discussion or rumour about this.
We should have long ago said to Madrid 'You have 2 weeks to bid 30m if you dont in those 2 weeks you wont be signing him' and to Xabi if you want to leave hand in a transfer request within 2 weeks or you wont be going to Madrid.
End of fucking discussion. Im not quite sure how we, the club who own a player with 3 years remaining on a CONTRACT are allowing the player and some rogue club to control the situation.
Put up. Shut up.
Im sick of it, i wish hed just fuck of out of it 'we cant talk about it'??! Fucking prick.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

Absolutely. We have him under contract. We lose every tactical battle in these situations. We should be pulling all the strings. Instead we're made to look like idiots. It's infuriating.

'sign for the Mancs' is the bit I don't understand. You're not seriously suggesting Xabi's on a par with Owen?

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

He's well on his way to the Terry-Thomas 'I'd awfully like to discuss this frightfully important matter with you but I'm afraid my agent has gone off on sabbatical!'

Except he's got three years left on his contract. Surely the point of Owen's evasiveness in 2004 was that he was running his contract down and thus minimising his transfer price?

Xabi said more or less the same things last summer, when he wanted to stay but Rafa wanted to sell him. I honestly don't see that he's done anything wrong at all as yet.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

OK, if you say so. We don't *have* to sell him this summer though, no matter what he or Real say.

I like Xabi, and I'll continue to like him until or unless he does or says something disrespectful to the club I love. And saying 'no comment' is not disrespectful.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

Xabi Alonso will get his dream move from Liverpool to Real Madrid – if Rafa Benitez takes striker Alvaro Negredo in a swap deal.

Spanish midfield star Alonso wants to join Madrid’s new Galacticos in a £32million move, but Kop chief Benitez has been holding out for more – and is now being offered £10m-rated Negredo.

The 23-year-old has been a major success during two seasons on loan at Almeria in La Liga, top scoring with 13 and then 19 goals.

He was hoping to get a shot at playing for Real – only to find out there are bigger names filling the shirts.

Now he has emerged as the key player in the deal, with Benitez considering taking him to play with Fernando Torres in his Anfield attack.

Negredo should be strong enough for the Premier. His nickname is the ‘wild animal’ because of his robust style. Benitez would rather pick his own players, but the Real reserve could be the answer.

Alonso has made his feelings about a move known with heavy hints in the media and to pals.

His departure would also be softened if Benitez could land a midfielder and sources in France reveal he is still on the trail of Marseille’s Albanian skipper Lorik Cana.

Marseille have signed two players for their midfield – Lucho Gonzalez and Everton target Stephane M’Bia – and will let Cana leave.

Kenny Dalglish is returning to Liverpool to take up a senior role in their academy and as a global ambassador.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

it's obvious real madrid see us as mugs.
the have bought;
ronaldo
kaka
benzema
did they offer manu, milan and lyon players in exchange? cough up the money or fuck off we don't want rejects, the last reject was nunez and what a star he turned out to be.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

Arbeloa was a Real reject and he turned out okay for us.

32M and Negredo wouldn't be a bad deal all things considered, although I'd probably prefer to take a different player. Still, it sounds like a made up story anyways.

[/quote]Woah woah woah. Lets not be hasty. 32m and Negredo (who ive seen a couple of times and is a decent forward) is fucking terrific.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

32m plus Negredo is a good deal, regardless of how good or bad Negredo is

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

I think its very likely that the 32 million that Real fucking Madrid is offering is meant to include Negredo.

22 million plus Negredo.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

come on rafa show 'em who's in charge. we hold all the cards, if they want him they have to pay for him regardless of if alonso wants to go.

35 million cash or 30 million plus negredo.

we could still sell xabi next year for this sort of money imo as he'll still have 2 years left on his contract.

i'd rather we kept our best players but if they are sold it should be for our benefit.
