These players are far too chummy with their agents. Agents are there to do a deal and then leave you alone. You shouldn't be socialising with them. Some of the idiots even go on HOLIDAY with their agents! Haven't they got any real friends?
Maybe he was his friend before he became his agent?

Now that's really being indulgent!

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has dismissed fresh reports linking the Serie A club with a bid for Liverpool's Xabi Alonso.

The Italian club are known admirers of Alonso and are targeting a midfield reinforcement this summer.

Speculation in the media suggested Juve could launch an offer for Alonso, who is also said to be a target of Real Madrid.

However, Juve have moved to deny the rumours, insisting they are not in the market for the Spain international.

"For the midfield, there are many names. But Xabi Alonso's not one of those", Cobolli Gigli underlined.

"I read in the press about our interest for him. He's a good player, but I think that saying I've read his name in papers is where it ends."

Reports have also claimed Juve are tracking Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik, but Gigli said: "About Hamsik I know nothing."

Hold the front page! khl calls Danish player "average". Hold the front page! 😉
If you care for it mate I could call a 1,000 Danish players average or worse in terms of whether they'd be good enough to play for Liverpool.

But aaaaaall you ever do is pulling my leg for those 3-5 players I've commented on to be actually good enough.

Agger, Saric, Hangeland (he's not even Danish but there you go), Zanka and Bendtner. And they ARE actually all good enough (or at least they are going to be).

I win.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

I'm not inclined to read through 53 pages, so what has Alonso actually said? Is he wanting to leave, and has Benitez indicated he's looking to sell?

It is essential that we hang on to Alonso, he is the ace.

Hello Hooz, you were gone a long time.

Agree about Xabi - we should try everything to keep him. He hasn't said anything at all really - just that he doesn't know where he'll be next season and it's up to the clubs to negotiate. Rafa has said he doesn't want to sell; many people have interpreted this as meaning that he does and just wants more money from the deal.

I wish I could persuade myself to be as nonchalant about it. Unfortunately, even given the truth of what you say, it provides quite a contrast that with Nando's resounding affirmation that he wants to stay and win things with us.

Obviously. Not as bad as your idol Mascher, though, whose agent has arselicked Barcelona at every opportunity.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

Well, I don't recall Mascher himself being quite so "che sera sera" about it all and Rafa's said before now that Mascher has told him he wants to stay. It's true, though, that he hasn't reined that agent in.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

GONNA LET ALONSO OR MASH LEAVE DOES ANY1 THINK HE WOULD HAVE LET BARRY GO 2 CITY WHEN LIVERPOOL WAS HIS PREFERED DESTINATION.... I THINK RAFA LET HIM GO TO CITY BECAUSE ALONSO BOOKED HIS IDEAS UP THIS SEASON ????

It's very easy for Nando to say those things because Rafa clearly wants him to stay by giving him a hefty pay rise as soon as the season was over.

No such offer of a pay rise has been on the table for Mascher or Xabi (yet).

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

Fair point, but one could just as easily argue that Nando had no reason to say what he said, once his pay rise was in the bag, and went ahead and said it anyway. There was also that time earlier in the season when one or two questions were being asked about Rafa's position and about whether the Spanish/Spanish-speaking players would follow him out the door if he left. Nando went public to make clear that he wouldn't be leaving come what may.

WTF Tinto? You're not implying Fernando Torres is anything less than perfect and godlike, are you?

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

Xabi is on good money, but it may come to a rise for him if we are determined to keep him. Masch however is on pathetic wages considering how good he is, and how highly regarded he is. He should be on 75-90k a week, he would get it anywhere else he went.

I don't doubt Nando's commitment to us and I'm not saying it has been been bought. I'm just saying that if the same commitment from the club has been shown to Xabi and Mascher, my feeling is that they would both be saying the same things that Nando is saying.

I reckon Rafa will sell one of Mascher or Xabi if a stratospheric bid is offered but if not, they will both be Liverpool players next season and they will both get a pay rise.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

First para - I'm less convinced than you, but I actually hope you're right. The other two are also vital to us and I'm crossing everything in sight that we can keep them.

Second para - agree. Rafa's stubbornness can be a mixed blessing but I think it'll work very much in our favour over this. They won't be leaving if (as I hope) the offers aren't right.

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

New Real Madrid star Kaka would like to see Liverpool's Xabi Alonso become the latest recruit for the new generation of 'galacticos'.

The Primera Liga side have already captured Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo and Raul Albiol, while an offer for Lyon's Karim Benzema has been accepted in a phenomenal summer of lavish spending.

Alonso is a target and Real have made no secret of their admiration for the former Real Sociedad ace, with reports of a bid in the region of £30million being prepared for later in July.

The 27-year-old's future is unclear after a rumoured bust-up with boss Rafa Benitez and, after playing against the Reds with ex-club AC Milan in the 2005 and 2007 UEFA Champions League finals, Kaka believes the Spaniard would be a good addition.

"I've played against him in two European Cup finals," Kaka told Spanish media when asked about Alonso.

"He is an excellent player and Spanish so he would be very welcome."

Fuck off Kaka, didn't take long to learn the Madrid mentality did it?

Re: Xabi Alonso will stay at Anfield, says Rafa Benitez

The Spanish media are giving out that Madrid are buying fioreign and not homegrown.
Kaka is ticking all the right boxes, by naming a first choice Spanish international, with the fans & the media.

I'm sure Xabi will stay.

If Alonso and Mascherano are going, I'd wish they'd just get on with it so we can go ahead with replacing them.

Unfortunately for you I'd say Rafa is prepared to let Xabi leave and not Masher, but as you say it'd be best all round if this was sorted asap.
