The incredible Xabi Alonso thread 2009.

Re: Xabi Alonso will PROBABLY NOT stay at Anfield, says Herr Onceared

No compromise should be made at all on price IMO, if its 35M just leave it at 35M and let them make their minds up yes or no...... just like Oneil did. The fact we are in the financial shit and therefore looking to sell at all is dissapointing but.... got lemons make lemonade.

IF we do sell we must be seen to receive our asking price, it will do us good in the long run when the financial big boys come knocking again in future transfer windows. I do not think that Alonso has got any power in this situation, and his relationshi with the fans and the fact that if he stays he will still play well means that we really can and should play hardball.

we want Alonso...

OK no problem....we want 35M please.

But thats a really high value...

Great players cost big bucks.... take it or leave it

.....Y esta.

Just wondering, does anyone hope that Alonso leaves or is everyone hoping that the deals falls through? Its obvious where his heart lies so maybe we'd be better off with players who actually want to be here.

Keeping him here has to be the priority because he's a wonderful footballer and is tried and tested in this league.

So many fans on here have been telling Xabi to "get over it" in reference to Benitez trying to sell him last summer - now we may have to take our own advice.

Re: Xabi Alonso will PROBABLY NOT stay at Anfield, says Herr Onceared

I don't get the feeling that Xabi is anything other than a total pro, especially before a world cup, im sure he would still do his suty if the deal fell through. I hope it falls through for that reason.

Re: Xabi Alonso will PROBABLY NOT stay at Anfield, says Herr Onceared

Xabi will do his thing to the best of his ability no matter what happens. Some sort of resolution would be great, one way or other though.

He always begins his articles with something like 'My hoards of fans have been asking me.....' these days. It makes me cringe. I particularly liked this bit: 'This is the first time that the Liverpool boss has overseen a player negotiation and been responsible for agreeing the fee (the Glen Johnson fee was pretty much agreed by virtue of the sums owed to Liverpool by Portsmouth)'. Some superb reasoning from Guillem. He's a fucking moron.

Couldn't agree more - He's a cunt.

He's not even right most of the time.

Re: Xabi Alonso will PROBABLY NOT stay at Anfield, says Herr Onceared

if alonso stays we have a better chance winning the league this season.

if we sell him next season we'll still get at least 15 million for him

the league is not worth 10 million pounds from madrid.

Is Anita all right? Has anyone checked? Perhaps we should call social services.

This season I have been mostly sporting a close-trimmed version of the Short Boxed Beard. In honour of our soon to be departed midfielder, I propose that such a beardy appendage be called 'The Chabby'.

He also might be left feeling that Real didn't show enough desire to get him considering they're quibbling (for the first time this summer) over a few million euro.

On the other hand Rafa's made clear he rates him as a world class player.

Weirdly she is at an Arsenal training session.

She asked me earlier to text her if i heard anything, so i texted her and told her Senderos was off to Everton to which she replied.
'Im at an Arsenal training session and he's right here'

I felt dumb.

Re: Xabi Alonso will PROBABLY NOT stay at Anfield, says Herr Onceared

From the Spanish press:

Radio Marca and Cadena SER are reporting that a basic price has been agreed, around 30ME, but we are still discussing incentives. Apparently Benitez wants them based on how many games he will play for us, while we want to include them on a trophy winning basis. They expect this to be resolved within the next 24 hours though, as we are keen to have Xabi with us for our US tour.

Onda Cero on the other hand say that it's all agreed, 30ME + 3ME incentives.

Re: Xabi Alonso will PROBABLY NOT stay at Anfield, says Herr Onceared

I can't remember ever seeing us handle a transfer like this before.

We've heard this one before, haven't we? Hadn't they already offered 30M euros ages ago?

Yeah, it's like groundhog day for some weeks now already.

Re: Xabi Alonso will PROBABLY NOT stay at Anfield, says Herr Onceared

That's because Rafa is less willing to bend over and take it up the arse than Parry.

Re: Xabi Alonso will PROBABLY NOT stay at Anfield, says Herr Onceared

I'm just glad we're being somewhat tough negotiators at this point. Tired of buying high and selling low as per under Mr Parry and Moores..

Re: Xabi Alonso will PROBABLY NOT stay at Anfield, says Herr Onceared

Sky showed Alonso turning up at Melwood today in a cab. Has he handed in his car?

Yeah i hope he leaves now personally.

Mascher is going to want to fuck off soon as well, so I'd rather we replaced them one at a time over the next two seasons.

An Arsenal training session? That means she's down the road from me. I'll watch out for the flash floods if it gets confirmed that Alonso's off before I get home.

they have only ever offered 27 million euro from what I understand, their next offer will be the one they're talking about now and will have to be soon
