we wanted 30 million pounds, not euros.

at least we should be seeing a couple of class signings come in, now.

how much is 30 million euros? ( in pounds )

Obviously in my heart of hearts I knew it was coming, but I still can't help but feel so gutted. He is a wonderful player and has been a model professional for us, despite what some might say. I'm sad about the way things panned out, I wish we hadn't tried to sell him last summer, and more than that I wish he hadn't wanted to go this summer.

Truly gutted. I feel sad now, but I'm sure I'll just be pissed off and wanna punch him when I see him all smiles in a Madrid shirt.

I've never felt so gutted about losing a player. I love Xabi, I love the way he plays the game, I love the way he can ping point a ball in exact spots from one end of the pitch to the other, I love the way he sees balls that are on that others don't, I love the way he keeps a midfield ticking. I'm only gutted it will no longer be our midfield.
If he thinks he was badly treated here he's in for a hell of a surprise at Real. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to move him on after a year or two.

What if Rafa is the next manager at Madrid ?

Sorry to see Xabi leaving but better players than him have left the club and will in the future, hopefully there is no split in the dressing room, lets see how quickly Purslow can get his replacement brought in.

Alonso will definitely be gone by next season.
Apparently it all stems back to the time Xabi didn't travel with the squad so that he could be at the birth of his child.
Alonso simply doesn't like Benitez and has asked to be transferred.

This kinda blows a big gaping hole into the SCM Boardroom Inner Sactuary We know What's Going On Behind The Scenes And We're Gonna Give Rafa An Online Raping For It doesn't it?

What with Rafa repeating ad nauseum that he wants Alonso to stay, and Barry being chatted up by some Arabs at Citeh, it's not really been a good start to the summer for the boys.

Fire away...
That's totally unnecessary, obviously they're just going on what they've heard. And I, for one, appreciate it when people share information, and I'm guessing it's posts like this that make the mods reluctant to share.

Like with any 'insider info', you have to take it with a pinch of salt, it's not set in stone.
Pffft, fucking nonsense.

You make it out like it was some 'don't shoot the messenger' titibit of info that was passed on.

Was it fuck. Did you read the thread? Ross/Sheik and whomever else completely set the agenda, absolutely slaughtered Rafa for it, and had the temerity to harangue anyone who dared question it. I suggest you go back and re-read it.

If you're going to set you stall out like that, then you're gonna have to take it on the other side when it turns out your info is fucking rubbish. There's a difference between 'here's some news that could happen' and setting the agenda for the entire Forum.

They weren't naive enough to think this wouldn't be brought to their attention either, hence their ensuing silence.
You seem to be weally weally angwy so to make you calm down a bit, no-one set agendas (although you do seem to have one given this is the 2nd time you've had a pop at us over this) and no-one mentioned that they had any inside knowledge of Gareth Barry joining us (in fact no-one claims to have inside knowledge of anything). There was, however, mention of Alonso leaving and I think I’m right in saying I didn’t really have much input apart from saying that it might be because Alonso wants to leave and not that Rafa wants to get rid (massive agenda I set with that one eh!). The last time I looked, the transfer window hadn't shut. Hence the 'ensuing silence'. And you’re right, the information could be rubbish but it could also yet turn out to be correct. I hope Alonso doesn't leave for 'our' sake but while I normally couldn’t give a toss what people think about stuff I might have heard, in this instance a very tiny smidgeon within me hopes he does leave so I can shove your words and dickhead attitude on this one down your gob.

PS. Gareth Barry is a mercenary of the highest order.

Might be worth brining the 'Rafa is a cunt' thread back up again. You boys were happy to let everyone believe the blame for Alonso leaving was solely down to Rafa, and the thread continued that way.
