He doesn't beat players, he can't shoot, he passes sideways, he doesn't create. He can do all those things and more. Yet his role in the team isn't necessarily to do any of those things, but to allow others to do it.
Lucas works hard, he fills gaps and has dominated opposition midfields alongside Masher. It's obvious to me he has adapted his game to fit the requirements of the team and gives 100% every game he plays and importantly, and what has impressed me the most, he has bags of character.
I like the way he has strengthened his physique and although he can still sometimes get shrugged off the ball a little too easily at times, there are also other times when he's as powerful as Masher. The best is yet to come from Lucas and I think he'll be a mainstay of our central midfield for years, so get used to him.
Finaly, I thought he was very good in his first season and deservedly kept Xabi out for a short spell.
