The Donkey

He's poo. There's no in-between. If you think there is, you're wrong. It's Lucas all over again.
I bet he's got a lovely Uruguayan BBQ rub in his repertoire.
What he hasn't got in said skillset is scoring a load of fucking goals in the Premier League.
Sell. Please.

Lucas was way better. He understood the basics of the game

There's a considerable in between between shit and what we really want out of a striker.

Every single forward we have bar Salah is in that category. That's how high the bar is.

I don't think Nunez is so much more flawed than the others, though they are flawed in very different ways, but hes not showing any trajectory in the right direction.

The thing is, every other forward is doing exactly what they want to be doing. Nunez isn't. Now he's less likely to be scoring, and so you have a striker that is streaky and profligate getting fewer chances.

We saw a similar dip with gakpo playing out of position. We have seen more out of Diaz with him getting in positions to score more.

All I think is that you can think he's not good enough and still read what is going on with him right now properly and with some context.

As much as I want him put out of his misery, Darwin Nunez has provided me with infinitely more joy than Lucas managed in a decade

Nunez is more frustrating, cause he is supposed to be on the end of moves. It is there on a plate, manŧ manŧ times, and he messes it up all the time.

We won the exact same trophy with Nunez and Lucas
AND a community shield

plus nunez has been here a lot less. Nunez is a patch of mould on the window ledge. You can clean it and treat it, and it's gone. Lucas was dry rot; infecting the very structure of the club.

Fans actually believed lucas was good it was that bad

This comment in the Nunez reddit thread got me:

This thread has convinced me that this sub is full of lunatics who haven't got a clue about the game. Darwin has consistently shown that he is not good enough for the level we're at. Its his 3rd season with the club and he is on his way to his worst season with us if the stats stay consistent.

We have enough data to know that he just isn't good enough. People are going on about his movement sound like they are honestly completely new to the game, a striker is supposed to have good movement, The level of excuse making from these guys is off the charts. Darwin will be sold next summer 100% it's a shame it hasn't worked out it really is, but if we want to get back to the very top and maintain it we need to do much better than him.

Why the hell are people focusing so much on that miss? Yes, I'd bet a pound coin that most of the good strikers we've had over the years would have scored it, but strikers miss all the time.

What is in question, is why the hell was he playing at left back or left DM for most of the game? Why is his link up play so poor? Why is his off the ball running so damn poor? Why does he still not understand offside?

It’s gotten so bad, I would even think about offloading him in January. If a player knows he’s finished at a club, it doesn’t jive with a title and CL challenge when the whole squad needs to be united as one.

Unless he gets a second wind once he’s told we’re looking for a new club for him, which should be right about now.

We won’t get anyone to buy him. £140k/week until 2028. Nobody will pay that and a fee.

He will spend the next three years on loan with us paying 70% of his wages.
