The Derby.. Post Match

Disappointing, we should have won.

One of those games where our performance didn't merit the 3 points but we got ourselves into a position to win it and seemed determined to throw it away.

If Allen had've scored, they would've fought that little bit less and we'd have won. Infuriating.

And so is this locking of the match thread. What difference does it make where the discussion is had.

Still would of preferred a victory mind..

Turning point was the Allen miss. Should of passed it.. Scored that and the match would of been put well and truly put to bed...

Oh and Allen has no future at LFC for me.
He has no composure in front of goal so he can't play an Attacking Midfield role.
And he is too weak to play the holding/combative roles.

Was extremely jealous of Lukaku and Barkley.

Flanagan had his best game in Red.

Lukaku wasn't a beast imo. Completely taken out of the game until a lucky ball finds his feet. Clinical, yes. But Agger had him in his pocket for the first half and when he then moved position it didn't change much.

Needed a lucky break. And a man mark from Johnson. It beggers belief why he had to mark him from corners.

Delofeou looked an amazing player imo.

I said in the Summer that if we sold Suarez we should offer Chelsea 25m for Lukaku the next day. He's every inch Drogba's heir. Without being a cunt.

Everton look a very good team. Watching them today made me think that despite all the money we've spent, the gap between us and them isn't that significant and probably boils down to us having Suarez.

bit annoyed that Everton kept 11 on the pitch and a bit annoyed at England for playing/injuring Sturridge

and I felt sorry for Allen, he's lost his mojo

And Flanno will have a flourishing career simply cos of his attitude.

The lad's got balls. Big ones. Showed lots of fight, courage and didn't shy away even when under tremendous pressure.

I like him.

Hard to pick out one incident in a game that had 7 million, but Allen's miss was pivotal.

Draw was fair.

Brilliant game of football mind you.

So many talking points.

Ref bottled it, should have given the red - would've been a huge game changer.

Positives: Amazing saves from Mingolet, Flanagan played with passion, goals from our 3 strikers and some good set pieces/crosses from Gerrard. Great sub from Rodgers to get Sturridge on (probably got us the point). Came back from 3-2 to get the draw (first time?)
Negatives: Coutinho was relatively quiet, Johnson made too many mistakes, Lucas giving silly silly fouls away. The team couldn't get into any rhythm. Allen, Allen, Allen...

It's a Derby , played with passion, so not a real indicator for the season or players but the same weakness are there. Happy with the point though.

However, they are dependent on their loanees. That team needs its special striker to be dangerous. Mourinho has made a huge guffaw by sending out his best striker.

I think we were very lucky to get away with a draw so I suppose we have to be positive that we got one. They dominated for long periods and had how many one on ones and fluffed them.
I'm not sure where it went wrong, Suarez seemed very isolated, it seemed like 9-1 formation for long periods.

Defence cost us again, as it kept doing last season. And the players we brought in to correct that, one for massive money, were not on the pitch to help. That's a problem for me. I'm not a big fan of Agger or Skrtel, and they both looked suspect today, with Flanno being our best defender, never thought I'd say that ever.

This result isn't filling me with confidence for next month when we play proper teams, not like everton. If we play like this through December, we'll be 6th of 7th come January.

A good result considering, but we've a lot of work to do to sustain a top 4 challenge.

Lukaku could have scored 4 so clinical isn't fully true.

infuriating match..... Gerrard gives the ball away too much as did johnson. Allen shouldnt even be in liverpool.....

pluses were Suarez, Mignolet, Lucas and Flanaghan.....

Annoying seeing us give ball after ball away.

oh and Mirallas is a twunt

If it werent for Minger he might have had 4 or 5.

Allen miss was the turning point. Would have been 3-1, game over. He's useless.
Thank god we've got good strikers to score 3 at Goodison and salvage a point.
Defensively , that was a disaster..Flano our best defender sums it all up.
Touré-Sakho-Skrtel-Flano for next game

well i don't know ...we were leading twice , mirallas should have been sent off, yet obviously we needed a late equaliser to earn a point so i guess we should be happy to take it . We missed some glorious chances (just no excuses from allen ) but had to rely on mingolet a number of times. To the point where i have no idea why rodgers didn't do something to change it, well unless moses for lucas was his master plan to get us back in control of possession.

And as i said in the match thread , i don't for the life of me understand why we just sit back and try to defend these leads . Don't get me wrong i don't expect us to go all kamikaze but do we really need to sit so deep and try and hit them on the break so early in the game ? We've done it all season to mixed results.

And again , we need to sort ourselves out against the top 6/7 teams. In isolation this isn't a bad result but when you see our record overall against the top teams it's woeful . In such a tight season these big games are massive .

Johnson was more adventurous in attack though, was involved in some good interplay and got into some good positions.

He did have his issues but with greater support from the midfield I think we'd see the number of errors reduced. That one where he gave the ball away because he was trying to turn away from the defender - he spent about an age looking for an out ball and there wasn't one there so he was forced into choosing between hoofing it and trying to turn. On that occasion he made the wrong decision and got caught out, but generally speaking the players should be doing more for each other.
