THE ASHES... 2009

With every wicket he takes, I'm losing more and more respect for Flintoff.

DEAR GOD MAN, STOP ACTING LIKE SUCH A SMUG LOOK-AT-ME CUNT.

You've just taken the wicket of Nathan Hauritz, batting average of 13, and you're kneeling on the ground like a Messiah. You look like an absolute twat.

And please, don't call me bitter or an England-hater. My thoughts on Flintoff as a cricketer are well-documentated, and in the 'Flintoff Retires' thread further down this Forum.

He's reminding me of Thierry Henry. And not in a good way.

What do you expect though? People will forget how amazing this lad could have been with this rather fantastic bowling performance.

He's retiring on a high ...

What?

Given the circumstances, I think it's understandable.

If a bit OTT

That he is ... but unlike Henry who actually dominated his sport, Flintoff will always remain under the 'what if' category.

As I said, let him strut his stuff one last time ...

So fucking what, you won't find many Englishmen who have anything for him but love.

I can't think of anyone else in this side who would deliver a performance of such ferocity, accuracy and heart all with a clearly uncomfortable injury.

I don't care how good Hauritz is, Onions and Broad could have bowled all day and not produced a delivery like that. (Jimmy Anderson possibly could).

Flintoff can act how the fuck he wants, he has grabbed this match by the scruff of the neck this morning and gee'd up the entire side.

Hes just performed to the best of his ability with the ball and taken a five wicket haul AGAINST THE AUSSIES in his LAST test in the fucking ASHES at the home of cricket. Its the equivalent of scoring a hat trick at Wembley in the world cup final in your last ever game.
So quit your fucking boo-hooing and start compiling more of your oh so insightful and on the money commentary for the next match.

So you don't think he looked like a twat then?

I've gone on record re Freddie's ability, did so the other day. Doesn't mean I can't call it when I think he's acting like a smug fool.

I predicted an Australia win, I wasn't the only one Oncy. During that time you were giving it the big one about "how I would move KP up the order, but I wouldn't it's just what I was thinking, not saying we should, lets' move on warble warble warble..."

Are you on drugs?

Johnson (the spearhead) bowling like a cunt, Hughes (the next big thing) with a highest score of 30 odd, Hussey a shadow of 'Mr. Cricket', and North it seems has been worked out if you can frustrate him long enough.

Don't forget England AGAIN threw away important wickets.

I'm more pessimistic than most when it comes to England, but I really don't see the Aussies being favourites anymore.

Fair play to Freddie, he's just stuck it up the Aussies and won the game for his team with a great spell of fast bowling. It's his last game at Lords against the Aussies so, so what if he celebrates his wickets a little bit more than usual.

One week on and it looks like the Aussies suddenly have more selection problems that England. Oh how they'll hope that Brett "medium pace" Lee will be fit to play.

To be fair, you're comment came across just as blinkered and out landish, LTW.

If there's a favourite, the English quite clearly edge it. However i'd say it's more or less still in the balance.

LTW, England won by over 100 runs and 2 sessions to spare, they also declared with wickets still in hand. I think it's safe to say that this game in the end was won very comfortably.

True.

The fact that 5 of the first 6 wickets were incorrect decisions didn't help the Australians in their second innings though.

Still, England won fair and square.
