I really don't understand why a good amount of people think we'll manage this... love to be wrong.

I'm with you, I'm very, very apprehensive indeed.

[/quote]I admire the optimism here but I too think we'll do well to get a point. I REALLY hope I'm wrong, obv.

BTW, a disclaimer:
Come KO tomorrow, I will be bricking it but will have worked myself into my usual pre-match state that believes we will beat anyone, no matter what the odds.
This is my stone cold analtyical head speaking, that wont be heard by the time the game comes!
I think that matches the majority of football fans (proper fans anyway) Jon. I usually get to half time before getting worked up when things aren't going well, and I won't ever give up on a game until we are 'done for, bar a miracle', as I've seen us turn around too many games to know that you never write us off until we've already been crem'd and scattered at sea.
I think we have a very good chance today, don't know why, but it's just a feeling I have. Had the same before the Utd and Everton games.
And statistically, there should be a home win today with all the draws and away wins yesterday. It always evens out. Clutching at straws I know, but just wait and see..

I really can't understand the apprehension of quite a few ???
Arsenal could hardly be weaker, it is the perfect time to play them. Even if Fabregas and so me others play they won't be fully fit and we could make almost a whole team from those missing. Added to that we are almost back to full strength (even if not fully match fit) and I truly believe the lift having Torres & Aquilani in the team will give us a massive boost.
I'm with the bookies and think we'll win by more than the one. *crosses everything*
Dare i say it but it actually makes sense to play Lucas rather than Aquilani. I would love us to go all gung ho against Arsenal and brush them aside but the way they knock it around having an unfit non tackling italian in the middle might be a bit too risky.
I would just like to state for the record that in no way does this mean i think Lucas is better than Aquilani, nor indeed Stephen Hawking, but at the same time he can at his best be neutral to our clubs chances of success on the pitch. Today strikes me as an occassion where Aquilani could well be a liability.

Non tackling italian? Thats very dramatic. He's a box to box midfielder, and doesn't shy away from a tackle. And I know this from watching him plenty of times in the Italian league and on International level. Unfit yes, but he's far from a weak offensive one way player.
I'm a Aquafan, but I don't think he looked fit enough in the last game to constantly harass the Arsenal passers in midfield. Lucas will at least *attempt* to disrupt things, and if we're lucky, even win the ball a couple of times..
As good as could be expected, I guess. We'll struggle to create much, though, with Kuyt out of form, Yossi out of position, and a CM of Lucas and Mascher. All down to Gerrard and Torres again, just for a change.
