Talk of Sin-Bins at FIFA

You do make good points, but sometimes even something obvious to one person isn't to someone else athough yes it would get rid of the stonewall howlers, it still pisses me off thinking about Suarez's winner at Goodison last season. just feel they would still fuck it up somehow and there is still grey areas with it all.

Things like the Sterling offside call what would of happened to that? that is one thing that is clear cut, say a manager has a review per game and Rodgers uses it for that or the assistant tells the ref through an earpiece its a blatent fuck up, then what? penalty? a clear run through on goal again? same will happen to other offsides and not all will be a blatent goal scoring chance like Sterlings.

I don't know it just seems complicated unlike basic things like goal line technology which was bought in way to late, madness how the technology was there and it was ignored for so long.

Retrospective bans for diving should be the next thing, that would make the refs job a bit easier if this issue was sorted out, fuck it along with player bans even dock a point or something if the team gets to 3,4 or 5 confirmed dives in a season, and another point for the next 5 or whatever, the mancs would of had a point off by now, it would near on kill diving in the PL.

Yeah to be honest I was going to bring up that Sterling one was a grey area because the ref already blew up so you couldn't do anything about it. That would just be one of those that we'd have to chalk up to human error.

To be honest, I'm not as outraged as some by diving. It's wrong, and I know I may be in the minority here, but it's part of the game now. If Suarez dives and wins the penalty that wins us the league in the last minute I wouldn't give a shit. I know some people, even some on here, would rather not win. I think it's a typically British viewpoint of always adhering to the rules and playing like men and with honour. It doesn't always work like that. Obviously blatant attempts to cheat are wrong - like going down when the player is not anywhere near you - but when there's a challenge that is a foul, that you could stay on your feet for, but if you did your advantage would be ruined, why not go down?

I think retrospective punishments for Fellaini's elbows, horror tackles that go unnoticed or only receive yellows (Mirallas) for example are more pertinent. The whole ruling of "the ref saw it and dealt with it so we can't do anything" is bollocks.

Diving doesn't bother me either really, what does bother me is the constant whining and double standards about it everywhere, its one of the big issues that would be easy to sort, they should just get on and sort it and put an end to all the bullshit as its never going to go away.

Radical new rule changes in football are rare and always met with scorn and doubt but in general work very well; 3 points for a win, the back pass being outlawed, increasing substitutions from 1 to 2 (and then to 3) etc. The exception to this is the repeated changes in the offside rule which has created much confusion over the years.

I remember much rubbish being written and talked about when the back pass rule was introduced; the highlight being Alan Hansen predicting that the rule would be rescinded very quickly because goalkeepers were going to be getting badly injured regularly if they couldn't pick up a back pass!

Then there is the silver and golden goal. The two extra officials who have never, ever made a single call in any game ever. I'm sure there are others. Yes, some new rules improve the game, but others are just fat-cat football officials trying to justify staying in five star resorts for free where they think they must make it look like they are actually thinking about something other than coke and strippers.
I think sin bins are a terrible idea, I also don't need any more rugby fans telling me how great their game is compared to ours and how we have nicked one of their rules. They are already insufferable twats.

Jaysus, those Gold and Silver goal things were shocking.

Rugby didn't invent the sin-bin it nicked the concept from America (at a guess I'd say ice hockey specifically) so I wouldn't be worried about being accused of nicking the idea from rugby.

Golden goal was good exactly once

Otherwise it was crap & I cannot remember what Silver goals were.

It's like governments that keep legislating even though the execution of the laws doesn't work. FIFA issue new laws and the refs don't understand them, or fail to enforce them, so they issue new laws, and so it goes on. Look at the changes to the offside rule - utterly shambolic. It's the same with the now ludicrous shirt tugging and holding in the penalty area at corners - instead of getting refs to penalise Skrtel all players for doing that, FIFA are no doubt planning to introduce a law to ban players from being in the area when the corner is taken, or they'll divide the area into elaborate sub-areas, or they'll assign extra officials to stare at players from behind the goal. It's all a sign of a body that fails to understand how rules are actually made to work.
