title already slipped away.

I hate to be a DB about this, but I say this not just because of our league position, but how we got there. Defense is a shambles, if anyone in CM gets an injury we are done, etc. Aquaman basically has to hit the ground running and have the best ever debut season for a foreign player for us to stand a chance, I think.

if only we could redo 08/09...

And that was the point I was making regarding the purchase of Johnson before Ryan started the "you've got a bad attitude" nonsense. There were far more important areas to strengthen and despite sepnding 18 million quid, our defence looks fucking worse than it did last year.

defence wasn't that bad actually, Agger made it look better thank god

it's going forward, Benayoun not relasing the ball and doing nothing, midfield doing nothing, Babel doing nothing, Kuyt doing nothing until 93rd minute and no dubs until 72nd minute

We're still going to win the league.
we lost two last season and still was not good enough throw in the towel
In fairness we also drew 13 games I think which was the equivalent of losing almost 9 more.

On the bright side we havnt drawn any this season yet. 🙂

This performance was even worse than our first half against Fiorentina.

Skrtel - shite
Babel - Shite
Johnson - shite
spearing - shite
lucas - the usual
kuyt - shite
the list goes on

3 losses in a row, no depth in the squad. nobody to play up front if torres is injured. one must ask why would you get rid of peter crouch and robbie keane to get voronin and wash n'gog in!

time bomb ticking

Rafa's decision to sell Alonso and buy a replacement who had a long term injury has come back to bite him on the arse big time. Dreadful decision.
Red : not his decision I feel.
Yes it was Froggy. He simply had to say no, you're not leaving. I think Alonso would have been professional enough to play to the best of his ability, especially seeing how it's world cup year.
it's not a very wise thing to make decisions in the short-term, as you're suggesting.

rafa bought the player he felt was best, and disregarded a 2 month injury. it seems pretty cheap to criticise him for that.

We are only 7 points behind with most of the season to go .... however I have to agree with you. We need a massive turnaround but people should not forget we were without our 4 best players (from a $$$ perspective at least) in Gerrard, Torres, Masherano and Aquilani.

who to blame that is the question..
Rafa's tactics and team selection today didn't help. And as usual, no subsitutions until FAR too late into the game, when we were crying out for changes...

The players from midfield forward didn't do much to help him out, of course... They were shite, but at some point, this manager's methods HAVE to be considered part of the problem, too.

last season seems to have been a blip. we're back to typical rafa in the league playing catch up long before xmas.

he's bought badly in the summer
he's lost the league in october
he's on the verge of losing the dressing room
he's clinging on to the champions league
he's on the verge of losing his job regardless of what his compensation looks like.

rafa is a boil that needs lancing. it may be painful in the shortterm but its for the longterm good.

plus he's probably not going to kick one for long once he gets fit such is his history

i dont think the league is totally lost, if we can get our players fit.

it's the fucking pointless internationals that bother me so much, they will all get called again November too.

no. you'd forget about signing a player you believed was the best available because he was injured for 2 months at the start of a 5 year contract?

he did the right thing, so far, anyway. that becomes more debateable once aquilani starts to play.

Yes. Especially when my job was probaby on the line if I didn't produce the goods. The player will be neither use nor ornament to Benitez if he gets the bullet. Let's look at it another way. He was prepared to write the season off to wait for whatever his name is....another season closer to Gerrard retiring. Same thing really.

Im guessing theres gonna be a space or two available in Dumbledores army.
I'm guessing it'll just be you and Mamma Mia.

well, i suppose the real point is that our squad is so inadequate to cope with the loss of one player for 2 months without blowing the title.

with that in mind maybe he should've gone for more of a stop-gap....but that's hardly a title-winning strategy either, is it?

my point, really, is that this start wasn't predictable from us losing 1 player for a couple of months - if it was, then we never had a chance in the first place.

A few of the posters on here should calm down a little.

There are 7 points covering the top 8 teams.

Nothing is won, lost or decided as yet.

A win next weekend and the attitude will change again.

You have too much time on your hands - you went back to find that !?!

Whether he has played a game for us or not - the fact he is so highly rated in Italy and expected to be a star of the Italian team in the WC gives more than a hint of his quality, as does his transfer price. Unless you prefer to count Kuyt or Babel ?
