Summer rebuild 2023

You could replace the minutes of ox, keita and milner with one player.

And we have replaced firmino already.

The better argument is we were short of quality with them in midfield and we needed for them to leave earlier.

that's actually true - but I would prefer that we had the quantity of players coz we get multiple players out at the same time.

That’s why we need reliable players, then we can rock around with a 21-22 man squad no issues.

Look how much on wages we wasted on these injury proners, the rest of the squad besides Diaz and Jota were healthy, even Matip was fit all season.

2x senior players per position = 22 man squad. That’s more than enough.

Yes - but look at how we play the game, or are expected to play the game, its high octane shit with Klopp, players - especially midfielders will get injured in numbers during different part of the season. I am so glad that Keita, and Ox left - so happy - those two were a fucking drain on resources and pointless to keep at the club when it was obvious two seasons ago that they could not be relied on. They are part of the reason (and Klopp for not moving the on) for us not recruiting, Klopp has got to say to himself that if he gets a fit young midfielder now - his style of play means he has to let go of them after no more than two to three seasons. Its for our own good, and the players themselves.

No one wanted keita because he's a crock. Look at where he's at now, and how much money he's on.

Same with chamberlain. It doesn't matter what klopp wanted, once players are obviously broken and on high wages, they are going to hang around like a stale fart.

Yep, that was the problem along with they seemed never to be actually fit during transfer windows.

That and COVID being right bang smack in the middle of when we ideally would have tried to sell them.

Last week it was JWP the press were linking us to, this week it's Velverde and next week it will be someone else. I am gonna say Llorente, we were linked with him in the past or maybe Bowen
I'd like to believe realistically it's Thuram, Viega and a CB

Pearce said we're likely keeping Matip and Thiago for a year, and letting them leave on a free next year.
I really don't get this policy -

It was always the likely outcome, Matip was brought in on a free....Thiago for 25m, we were happy to lose Milner and Gini on a free who came in for the same prices.

Wrt Matip he's been injury free for the last 2 seasons now & if he continues this next season I'd be happy for him to stay on for another year.

Wrt Thiago I guess there are no offers on the table deemed worthy to sell....It'd be nice to get a 10-15m from somewhere but in the same sense it's nothing to really lose sleep over....is it worth the hassle to push him out the door? Probably not.

No-body will pay anything for them - so it’s likely more cost effective to squeeze the last bit out of them and replace them only when they have to.

We already have, technically, 4 squad midfielders to replace in Kieta, Milner, Ox & Arthur a if we get rid of another then maybe it means we have too many holes to fill.

CB might be the same.

Who is this "Arthur" guy you mention!?

Now I don't have access to the Athletic, but I assume Dunk read this one out. The gist of it is Klopp will try to make do with what he has and then add where he needs to. So no RB and FW. 2 MFs and 1 CB seems to be the intention from James Pearce

Grav and Veiga plus a CB would make me happy.

NEW: Ryan Gravenberch has revealed that he will leave Bayern Munich this summer if he is not guaranteed playing time next season. - De Telegraaf #lfc

According to Pearce, its 1 more MF and a CB not 2 more MFs!
So if Pearce is right, we will only get Thuram and a CB (possibly). The Club sees the emergence of Steph and CJ and a resurgent Fabs as being able to do the job. @StevieM will no doubt agree with that assessment.

I am fine with one more midfielder, if he is a starter.

Also the center back needs to be a squadie who can step in right away. So not a three year project.

Ok so just to prove that our seasosn owners did not make a mistake when they did not sign enough players in previous seasons, the cunts will do it again just to let us know it was no fluke that they truely aee cunts. Also, anyone worried about integration issues with three newbies, thats a bollox argument, comsidering all he wants them ever to do is press, and recycle. They really are idiots, he knows and they all know that we are not gonna get full games out of Curtis/Thiago/Fabinho...so its gonma be the same ahit over and over again.

Pearce can go suck my left nut.

at the same time!?
Yeah, that wanker reporter has a fat face, am sure he can sucknon both.

@bluebell - agree with your comments, 2MF, plus 1CB equals 4th at best and that means that is our only target for next season, essentially we wont be competing for anything. Even if wr get to a final there wont be enough fit players to contest it at 100%

I hope JP is talking bullocks. To get only 2 extra new MFs (Mac 10 + One other) will leave us short towards Christmas when injuries pile up again.

If we get 1 more cm and a CB this summer, then next summer we'll be putting out the fires of a deteriorating hendo and fab, as well as a leaving Thiago. And that's dependant on our front 5 maintaining form and not needing another overhaul. Defensively, we'll be losing matip, and still reliant on hoe Gomez. Good stuff.

Good stuff. Let's just keep playing catch up
