Difference was milner was free. Ward-prowse would command less wages I'm sure, but what does he offer? Experience of winning? Nope. Versatility? Nope? Obscene stamina and a model pro? Maybe?

If he's like milner he's the Poundland version, but would cost a lot fucking more

Yea I’m with you on that, he hasnt won anything and spent his career at a club with no ambition. Reeks of happy being the big fish and living in the comfort zone. Maybe that’s really unfair but the alternative is that Southampton is his level so he never needed to leave.

If we fail to get the players we were linked with last week then all i can say is that we have given up challenging or evwn being a contender. Its over, JWP interest just shows how low we should set our expectations. This league is the German league, with City now our Bayern. The only other manager in world football capable of challenging Pep is now a fucking mouth piece for FSG.

You know the window hasn't opened yet? It's no secret who I want but me writing in a fringe forum my thoughts and opinions has no actual influence on anything, its just for discussion purposes or getting an idea on 'Black on White'. Its the transfer window, newspapers need their click baits, so we will be linked with every player under The Lying Rag

We should be all after Uruguay’s captain at the U20 championship - Fabricio Diaz.

Can play anywhere in the midfield, is 20 and would come fairly cheap. Currently plays for Liverpool in Uruguay and is being linked to Barca.

It’s the type of signing we should be trying to bring in, try unearth the next Valverde

Helps with the homegrown quota?

S'all I got

Virgil may not quite be the player he was before that guttersnipe Pickford crocked him, but even at 80% capacity he's miles better than anyone we could convert that cash into. I hope (and expect) we're after a back-up left sided CB, or a youngster we can bring through, rather than an immediate replacement.

Yes, considering every cb bar Virgil are injury-prone, we really could do with a reliable player who can a) be backup to Virgil and preferably b) be capable of playing alongside Virgil.

I’d be happy with that.

Left footed???

That’s a replacement for Big Virg.

Not necessarily in favour - but that’s one that “could” bring in enough dollars to aid sone smart buying.
Or just have a left footed CB playing on the right side of defence.....you know reinventing the way the game is played an' all tha'

It's exactly what I wanted us to do. Long term succession planning. I'm not in favour of selling Virgil, but we need to be planning for his decline now

His speed is only okay post-TRex, but his heading ability is still insanely good when we’re under pressure or facing set pieces.
I think he’ll be around for a long time. We just need defenders that can cover for his negatives while he excels on his incredible positives.

@moron I heard David's name before can't say if he is a ITK

You could add Diaz (£36m) and Jota (£43m) to that list
Suarez was £26m
Carroll's £35m signing would be close £80-90m in today's money
We haven't signed either Kone or Thuram

We love a good 35m signing, if either or both the French boys don't sign, we'll move onto 2 others who will....for 35m!!!

Any footballer out there valued at 35m should just sign for us now!!!

Even the defender we'll sign will be 35m. Never really had a lucky number before, might make it 35.

Wonder if Pavard would cost 35m?

Hope not, 27 years old and heading into the last year of his contract. Doubt lots of clubs especially German one's trying to bid for his services. He is worth tops £20m. That's what we paid for Thaigo who was considered World Class at the time

Other than Bayern, which German clubs can afford players at that price? Only Dortmund, no?
Hence why I said "especially German ones". The wages his on its PSG, Real, AM, EPL clubs and maybe Barca. LFC should offer a lowball figure of £10m and work their way up.

It's not that German clubs wouldn't try....they couldn't even if they wanted to, It's like saying I doubt any Dutch or Portuguese clubs trying to sign him.

What we need to consider is which clubs, if any, that have the money to sign him.....would sign him.

We do need a bit of experience as well, we can't just be doing a Southampton and sign 3-4 22 year olds.

Real Madrid are IN for Benjamin Pavard. Bayern want €30M - €40M. @Plettigoal

Problem is, the high line we play, speed is as important (if not moreso) than being a unit
