Sterling

That was Sterling's 10th goal of the season. In his first full season in the league at the age of 19. To put that into perspective, Ronaldo, Messi and Rooney in their first full seasons:

Ronaldo - 2004/05 - 9 goals
Messi - 2006/07 - 17 goals
Rooney - 2003/04 - 9 goals

Don't think there've been any other teenagers out there in the last decade with that kind of production.

Nitpicking a bit I suppose, but shouldn't Sterling's first full season be last season? He's so far played about the same number of games as back then, owing to being out of the team until December.

He had 24 appearances with 19 starts last season.

He'll have 33 appearances with 24 starts this season. It's not a huge difference in the numbers, but he's being picked on merit this year as a first choice player. Last year was his first ever in the league, and most of the starts he got were really by default. Rodgers didn't really have anyone to pick but Suarez and Sterling in the first half of the season (Borini was injured and he couldn't buy Dempsey).

Fwiw, those numbers for Ronaldo, Messi and Rooney are also from their second seasons. Didn't count their first seasons even though they, quite like Sterling, had a decent number of appearances.

I expect a bit of tabloid speculation about his future in the summer and I would anticipate a few enquires from the likes of Man City and Real whether he is available

At this rate, I think he'll get a new contract with improved terms next season if his form continues.

It's amazing how much his game has improved this season. I remember how many were calling for Ibe to be played instead of him during the 1st half of the season. If you'd suggest that now you'd be institutionalised.

Suarez, Studge, Sterling, Coutinho, Hendo, Skittles, Ming, Stevie have all been heroes at various stages this season. Its on the back of their collective superlative form that we have mounted this title challenge.

his adaptability is incredible, He seems to have the intelligence, skills, and determination to play in cm, rw, lw, rwb, and acm without any problems. So valuable.

Totally agree. He adapts so well to playing in different positions, and different tactics. Very intelligent.

He can't keep performing and improving like he has been doing. He'll be the best player in the world in two seasons if he does.

Sterling is the 2nd highest scoring youngster across England, Spain, Italy, Germany and France this season after Berardi.

would he leave if somebody came in for him? he's is a cockney at heart maybe he'd wana go back down that way

He seems to have a first class relationship with Rodgers & Gerrard. I doubt he'll want to leave in the foreseeable future/

Outside the world of football, some employees get free passes for being assholes if the boss thinks that they would be hard to replace.
And I'm very sure that managers of football clubs feel the same about their best players.
Not Mr. Rodgers.
I think that that bollocking that Rodgers gave Sterling in Being Liverpool shows that great man management extends to not being afraid of calling shit out.

Looking at the fees getting banded around for Shaw and Barkley makes you wonder.

Tbh i don't think you can put a price on Sterling and his worth to us at this moment and probably for the forseeable future, what hes been doing this season is incredible really, if this is his base then how good will his peak be? how good is he going to be when hes 23/24?, its a scary thought how good he might end up being.

A good World Cup and the whole country will be jizzing about him just like we are right now, if he carries on or even improves this form into next season and into the CL then superstardom won't be far round the corner.

I wonder if and how quick he can get to Bales level or even past it? how many goals per season will he be capable of? i wouldn't be suprised to see him scoring 20 plus goals in all comps next season if hes fit and healthy.

Its similar in way to when Owen burst on the scene for us, touch wood there isn't any bad injuries.
