Conor Coady - Nothing tells me he's good enough. Granted I've only seen him in a DM/CM position (he's also a CB) I think he's all over the place.
Andre Wisdom - Strong tough CB, I used to rate him a lot but lately I've seen to many errors from him.
John Flanagan - A no nonsense player. Still not good enough going forward to play for Liverpool. I can't see him becoming as good or better than what we have.
Jack Robinson - Very intelligent, quick player. Doesn't do anything extravagant and seems mature for his age.
Seyi Ojo * havent' seen him
Alex O'Hanlon * no opinion
Marco Bueno - not here yet
Jack Dunn - Promising.
Jordon Ibe - not seen him
Raheem Sterling - Hasn't been able to produce the goods for the reserves like he did with the U18s, still time though.
Suso - IMO the most talented player in the reserves. Might not be having the best season according to some but the talent is there. I think he'd do a lot better with better player around him. (that could be said about most of them)
Jerome Sinclair * - no opinion
Ryan McLaughlin - He's very quick but I haven't been that impressed tbh.
Brad Smith - No chance in making it IMO, I just don't think he's good enough. Poor defender.
Joao Carlos Teixeira - not seen him except in the Next gen tournament, where he's been brilliant.

Spurs away next week, looking forward to it.

well, that's that sorted then.

Anyone catch Baio for the u18s at the weekend? He looks like he's a really cracking player in the Tiote, Makelele mould. Saw him play for the U18s at the weekend and he really caught the eye- was pulling the strings throughout the second half- lovely interceptions, tackling and base for getting the front 5 moving.

Another one to watch.

I don't agree with all of Modo's assertions (Brad Smith is not 'poor') but I have to say I'm not convinced about Coady yet either.

I personally just look for things to build on, good skill, good technique, right attitude (can't teach application and heart) everything else can be learnt over time. for instance, did carra look stand out when he was in the reserves?
I've been watching th reserves for about 10 years and I would say for about 6 of those years I thought our kids were fucking rubbish and I wasn't surprised one bit that hardly anyone has broken though in all that time. there were people calling on rafa to giv youth a chance. like who, they were pretty much all rubbish. and then I would say maybe in the past three years there has been an absolute explosion of talent in the reserves (probably because rafa spent a fortune on kids) and now I can see some kids that will be pushing for the first team in maybe two years time.
I can 'kinda' agree with shiek that there isn't a 'gerrard' i.e. a kid that is so far head and shoulders above his peers h demands to be included in the squad right NOW but there is a HUGE difference between our reserves now and our reserves not even 4 years ago. we'll see just how talented our kids are in th next few years but what I will say if at least two of our kids aren't 1st team regulars in 3 years time I will be amazed.

yes, Baio was the one i was thinking of putting in my '15'. he's one of the best players in the current u18 side i think, and pretty much the only one of his type in the whole youth set-up (whole club even?).

defo has a chance of making it.

as for Coady, well he's certainly not the most talented of those listed, but i can't help but think that a player so highly regarded by hte club and England must have something about him. i've wondered for a while if he might not end up as a centre half, in the Carragher mould: he seems intelligent and a born leader, to start, and has played well there before for England.

News dated Tuesday, February 7, 2012

Liverpool youngster Raheem Sterling returned to his roots this week when he dropped in to visit his old team-mates at Copland Community College, Wembley.

The 17-year-old winger, who was a student at the school until two years ago, when he left QPR to join the Merseyside club in an initial £500,000 deal, was back in the capital for the Reds’ under-19 team’s NextGen Series clash against Tottenham.

And he took the opportunity to pay a visit to Copland and his former coach Paul Lawrence, the school’s head of PE, prior to Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat at White Hart Lane.

Copland plan to establish a football academy for 16-18 year-olds, who will study BTEC sports and one other subject, along with learning the game in the Middlesex County League.

Lawrence said: “Raheem is willing to help and support Copland in any way that he can, so I let him know that we are having trials in April and, if things don’t work out with Liverpool, he’s more than welcome to come!

“We wish him all the best for the foreseeable future and we hope to see him represent the Liverpool first team very soon.”

Sterling, who was born in Jamaica but grew up in St Raphael’s Estate, Neasden, spent seven years with QPR’s youth set-up before his transfer to Liverpool.

He has also made several appearances for England at both under-16 and under-17 level and played at last year’s FIFA under-17 World Cup in Mexico.

I'm basing this off nothing other than the fact that Downing was atrocious today.

Bring in sterling.

i'm actually very confident that Sterling would be a better option that Downing right now. get him on the bench and give him 5-10 minutes - what harm could it seriously do?

in such a scenario even the most mediocre of youngsters can bring something if they just go out and play without fear. even fucking El Zhar did a few times in 2008, and he had about 1% of Sterling's talent.

At least Sterling could be good in the future. Maybe. Downing will never be good enough for us.
