Sterling Deal Complete: 49 million (44 + 5)

Why do people keep going on about 49 million, we're not getting anywhere close to that figure. 44 million upfront - 20% to QPR = somewhere just above 35 million. We can go on about the extra add ons, but they have not been achieved yet and who's to say they ever will.

So to sum up, yes it's a shit load of money and but nowhere near what people think it is.

So apparently, police are going to investigate talk that some people made threatening and obscene remarks to Sterling about his daughter on Twitter.

And you know what'll happen when he plays against us. Someone with incredible hearing will pinpoint one mad twat in the crowd shouting something and we'll have 'racist shame' headlines for a month. I don't know when we all signed up to this collective responsibility agreement for the actions of any random dickheads but it's bloody tiresome.

We could have got much more had we been virtually any other club. When you step back and see we don't have their kind of money and still get bent over by Newcastle and Southampton. That is what you call overpaying. Yet we go to the richest club in the country, and giggle like girls because they overpaid by £10m. Pitiful.
So you agree they overpaid.

So you agree they overpaid.

Of course, but compared to how much they usually over pay we idiotically decided to cave in at +25% instead of +100% over. I therefore see the glass three quarters empty and want to fill it with the blood of an Englishman.

You're assuming that the fee continues to double despite how high it gets. It's easier to sting someone out of £5m-£10m on a base fee of £10m, than to swindle someone out of £100m for a player who's worth about a quarter of that.

I think they've learnt some lessons, unfortunately. They used to pay utterly ridiculous prices, not so much now it seems.

Same thing happened with Chelsea, too. There's not much we can do about it!

Whatever you sell, and whoever you sell it to, you are often left with the feeling you could have gotten more.

Yes, isn't it just wonderful?

Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close up!

He's gone. We really need to lock this thread and forget about him. He's a Man City player. We've got a big chunk of cash for a 20-year old that cost us £500,000 and didn't want to play for us anymore.
The end.

Cost us over 10 million with the addons..

Still a good deal mind..

'tis true.

But it's all a bit gutting, really. And the feeling will be exacerbated with every City goal he scores. And I bet he scores a lot.

You mean more than his all time record of 9 when Suarez and Sturridge were pulling holes for him all over the place?

The record set when he was 18, you mean?

Anyway, for Suarez and Sturridge read Silva and Aguero. Plus he's only going to get better. The guy is going to score a bucketful for City.

By all means ram this opinion down my throat if I'm wrong. And I sincerely hope I am.

No point really debating whether he's going to improve or not now. Given his attitude I really think he could go either way and it's a big gamble for City but we'll only know with time, like most things

He's not really at the right club to improve though.
They haven't progressed a young talent in decades.
Johnson,Richards,Rodwell,Nastasic,Jo,Savic etc have all gone in the wrong direction.
Sterling is a mercurial talent but this isn't the time for him to move there.
Fuck him though I hope he flops big time and ends up at West Ham in 2 years.

I don't really care. Maybe an age thing. Maybe a 'seen it all before' thing'. Maybe a reaction to my contempt for modern football. Dunno. But genuinely couldn't give a toss.
Torres going did for me.

Not that I disagree with you, quite the opposite, but they aren't really the same calibre of talent as Sterling; Jovetic and Mangala are better examples, both have yet to shine at City.

I wasn't saying they had the same level of talent but they were all around the same age when signing for City apart from Richards.
He'll need to hit the ground running or he won't be given the necessary opportunities to progress into a world class talent.

He didn't get his lollipop after finishing his dinner.

Do they still do that?

Lol I remember those days, when Little Chef was the place to go.. With its state of the art boil in the bag food..

So much has changed... Ironic the place was called Little Chef. but in fact the place probably did not even have a Chef on Site..

You probably barley even get a smile these days, never mind a lollipop..
