Actually there's a potential serious point in that too. When all this started there were rumours that the little gobsh!te wanted to go back dahn the Smoke. If that *is* what he really wanted, how long will it be before he throws his toys out of the Etihad pram as well?

just like moving wasnt for the money *snigger*

Also lets not forget that he is going to look shit in Sky blue and Skrtel is going to knock him the fuck out when we play them.

Skrtel doesn't seem like the fierce club lover or someone who subscribes to tribal loyalties to me, despite his tats. I don't think any of the England internationals will do that too, and Moreno is just too cuddly to take things and be taken seriously. My bet will be on one of the younger guys - either Sakho or Can - doing the honours. Don't rule out a wily fella like Lovren being the executioner too. He'll know that a well-inked forearm clothesline move on Sterling will immediately earn him a few months' worth of forgiveness for his defensive errors.

i do not condone in anyway any one of our players performing a tackle with paul-scholes like precision and the force of a full speed ahead razor ruddock on the cunt at all.....but ill buy a pint to anyone that does.(on the pitch or in an alleyway with a kinfe)

Look no one wanted him to leave.
A year ago he was the chosen one. But he ISNT worth 49m no matter what way you shake it.
So it isnt a coup in any shape or form.
Weve done really well with the fee, City might not care about the money but thats not the point. We got 49m for a very good player who by the end of last season was being dropped.

I dont know what the ceiling is for Raheem, do I see a Ronaldo, Messi, Bale in there? No I dont. I see a very good player who will probably improve, but never a 50m player not even close.
And he isnt our best player, Coutinho is our best player. And we have bought a ready made replacement with 20m to spare so I dont get the massive gnashing of teeth. Upshot is he CHOSE to leave, and we got the best deal for the club out of it.

In my eyes he doesnt look that much advanced on Ibe. And Ibe has signed a new deal and is staying at the club right? So we had
Sterling
Ibe
Coutinho
Lallana
Markovic
For those AM berths and now we have
Firmino
Ibe
Coutinho
Lallana
Markovic
Milner (maybe)
And 20m

I think we are doing ok.

Far more concerning is that we still have Mario and Fabio as our Striker options until January or whenever Sturridge is back for 3 months.

What is concerning is that other clubs with no leverage still manage to secure a massive mark up on the true value of their player. Everton, Villa, Arsenal, Swansea have all fucked them over recently. We set our asking price a mere £10 or £15 million too high, and most of that goes to QPR. The way I shake it, City walked into these negotiations thinking they'd have to pay £100m, Ayre handed him over for £49m less add-ons. It's pityful. City now know this, and they'll be coming back again next year for more of the same.

49mil is rather a large sum of money.

you could buy a few mars bars for that.

Edmond he isnt a 100m player. Thats nuts.

No, but City thought they would have to pay that because otherwise we'd have told them to fuck off, like every other single club do to them, and we'd have ended up with £70m for him. The transfer window has only been open for two minutes, what the hell was the point of caving in now when their offers are only going to go in one direction?

Except I doubt Pellegrini's musings about £100 mill.were ever more than a (pretty ill-advised) figure of speech. If we'd actually tried to make that our target fee we might well have ended up with them saying thanks but no thanks, they'd look elsewhere.

Then you can just wait it out for the rest of the summer, and at the end of August go back to them with a slightly lower fee. Or if it's too late, you can take out your anger on Sterling. Win win.

We still should have reminded hacks about it on a daily basis. A recording of it should have been playing on a loop throughout the past few weeks.

49 million is plenty of money. The problem is the hole in the team. Fortunately we have Firmino to fill it. He'll be boss.

Would have been easier to raise the price if anybody else was remotely interested in buying him.

Haha exactly.

He wanted to go to London. Arsenal and Chelsea both have plenty of money.

But not a peep from them. We got pretty much the maximum we could have right now.

Are you high? City didn't expect to pay £100m for Sterling.

Well he's costing them £100m if you include his supposed wages of £200k a week. Maybe that's what Pene Linguini meant regarding the £100m

He was just talking shite. If I had to front up at least three times every week to talk to the media, the chances are fairly high I'd talk a lot of shite, too. And I'm eminently sensible.

Really, well so were we with the £50m... the real price is £70m.

I'm not really sure of your point here. But I would wager we got as much as we could out of City and the general feeling among the pundits is they overpaid. To me, Sterling is worth more than that to us, simply because of the void he leaves behind. That is just one man's opinion, mind.

To get too much money for a player who wanted to leave cannily be seen as good business.

However, we've still lost one of our top players which continues a worrying trend. That its to a rival only compounds matters.

Whoever we sign in his place needs to bring us goals, and fast.

Jesus H Crist @Jesusontwittorr: Raheem Sterling will have an awful season. Dad just told me and he knows his stuff

We could have got much more had we been virtually any other club. When you step back and see we don't have their kind of money and still get bent over by Newcastle and Southampton. That is what you call overpaying. Yet we go to the richest club in the country, and giggle like girls because they overpaid by £10m. Pitiful.
