Skrtel doesn't seem like the fierce club lover or someone who subscribes to tribal loyalties to me, despite his tats. I don't think any of the England internationals will do that too, and Moreno is just too cuddly to take things and be taken seriously. My bet will be on one of the younger guys - either Sakho or Can - doing the honours. Don't rule out a wily fella like Lovren being the executioner too. He'll know that a well-inked forearm clothesline move on Sterling will immediately earn him a few months' worth of forgiveness for his defensive errors.

What is concerning is that other clubs with no leverage still manage to secure a massive mark up on the true value of their player. Everton, Villa, Arsenal, Swansea have all fucked them over recently. We set our asking price a mere £10 or £15 million too high, and most of that goes to QPR. The way I shake it, City walked into these negotiations thinking they'd have to pay £100m, Ayre handed him over for £49m less add-ons. It's pityful. City now know this, and they'll be coming back again next year for more of the same.

Except I doubt Pellegrini's musings about £100 mill.were ever more than a (pretty ill-advised) figure of speech. If we'd actually tried to make that our target fee we might well have ended up with them saying thanks but no thanks, they'd look elsewhere.
Then you can just wait it out for the rest of the summer, and at the end of August go back to them with a slightly lower fee. Or if it's too late, you can take out your anger on Sterling. Win win.

I'm not really sure of your point here. But I would wager we got as much as we could out of City and the general feeling among the pundits is they overpaid. To me, Sterling is worth more than that to us, simply because of the void he leaves behind. That is just one man's opinion, mind.

I'd prefer Jimmy Case. But ultimately, I just Sterling to fail cos he's not good enough, not because of injury. Anyway, he's gone so fuck him.
We could have got much more had we been virtually any other club. When you step back and see we don't have their kind of money and still get bent over by Newcastle and Southampton. That is what you call overpaying. Yet we go to the richest club in the country, and giggle like girls because they overpaid by £10m. Pitiful.
