Wasn't the goal yesterday simply return to Anfield a) qualified and b) without sustaining any injuries.
We did that. For this particular game, end of.

Well we are heading to the situation where you might as well read the result in the papers the next day and the game has been just as you expected it to be anyway. All games are there as a chance to push thing in a direction. Show us fans a glimmer of something. Break a barrier. Build something. Anything.

WTF are you on about?

My point is that our normal game is obviously good enough when we needed a simple point brought back home with no sustainable injuries. That is what our standard is good enough to do these days. We have marginalized our club to be a joke, and a fucking dreadful uninteresting team to watch. We can as well read the result in the paper instead. Because the game against Steaua was just as good as most performances anyway, or should I say just as uninspired and boring as any game anyway.
So when we are in this situation we can not allow the games to be just about a simple point. We need to make more out of games. We have to take opportunities to build optimism and belief. Confidence. Among players, but even more important among fans. Why should fans spend huge money to watch Liverpool these days? Because every now there comes a totally unimportant game where we can accomplish a simple point and sustain no injuries, and that we are capable of?
We are in the entertaiment business. People need to get a kick from watching. People need to look forward to games. People need to feel thrilled, and I promise you that we are giving nothing of that these days. And there is no fucking sign that we will start deliver it either. SO we will continue for the foreseeable future to drift around 10th place, with boring overpredictable football just waiting for our best players to demand their transfer away while we have Carlton Fucking Cole and NZogbia on hold to streghten our team.
When the situation is like that we cant afford to let any fucking game be about securing a safe trip home with no sustainable injuries.
Ok it was the youngsters and reserves. But they were set up to defend a point and to pump the ball to fucking nowhere when they got hold of it. And they secured a point and no major injuries. But what if they hade dared to try something? What if we had dared to outplay Steaua. To keep posession and doubled up on the flansk. Gone after them and tried to hurt them. Showed pride in what we did. Shown hunger for playing good football. We had of coursed risked loosing 1-0... But imagine we had won 2-0 instead. And played well at the same time. That would have been cause for optimism. For a small expectation that some of the reserves/youngsters actually pu pressure on the overboring first team. But they are not allowed to. Because this worked in both Halmstad and Örebro not to mention Neuchatel Xamax, and thursday it worked for fucking Liverpool as well.... Yippi kayee.
