Spurs vs Liverpool: Pre-match thread

So just the spine then. And the hope we can start scoring goals?

Hes a coach, not a Warlock.

The hope we can start scoring goals? 1 in 2 man Benteke and the striker who was quickest to score 50 goals for Liverpool. That's what.

Yeah, like that's totally what I meant...a Manager/Coach can't improve a defence/a midfield/an attack then? No point hiring this Klopp guy is there

I think we will play Diamond.. something like this... 4.4.1.1 / 4.3.2.1
------------------------------Ming------------------------------

Clyne--------Skrtel------------Sakho-----------Moreno--

-------------------------Lucas--------------------------

----------Can---------------------------------Milner-----

--------------------------------Lallana-------------------

----------------Coutinho--------------------------------

-------------------------------------Sturridge-----------

That for me is the strongest 11 you could put out..

Each player playing in arguably their best position..

That's an awful team. You see it right?

I thought for Spurs Klopp would play Moreno at LM and Gomez at LB to be more solid defensively down that flank. Now that it's not an option, perhaps the only way to help Moreno out at LB would be to play Milner at LM. Who starts in CM then? I doubt we will see Lucas and Allen in the same midfield, we would risk getting physically overrun and outmuscled. So that leaves Can + one of Lucas and Allen; I think Lucas will get the nod for now even though I don't see his long-term future in Klopp's team.

In attack Firmino and Benteke are not ready, Ings is out, so the options are suddenly pretty limited. I would guess it's Milner, Coutinho, and Lallana in attacking midfield and Sturridge up front. To me that's by far the most logical selection, I would be surprised if this is not the team:

--------------Mignolet--------------
Clyne--Skrtel--Sakho--Moreno
------------Can-----Lucas---------
Lallana-----Coutinho-----Milner
--------------Sturridge------------

Klopp will probably give Origi a run out at some point as well, I think he is a fan.

Is Enrique really out of the cards to play his way back into the team? He's not updated his Instagram for a while...

It's pretty crazy that he already looks a shell of the man who gave that first presser.

Some could say he's more focused for business ie Spurs game. His first press conference had a different vibe to it altogether but then again he was allowed to be more relaxed and sub consciously more eager to make a big impression...which he did.

Now we all know what the Liverpool job can do to people, just ask Houllier, but I really wouldn't read too much into a more subdued and reserved press conference.

Is this wishfull thinking on your part? So that you can moan?

He looks focused. I'm sure he's disapointed about losing Gomez and Ings for the season. But he also said this:

"As a manager, one of the things I learnt first you do not think about the players who are not available at this moment".

It lasted a week. And then it started. If we lose tomorrow then what?

Honestly, some of you fellas, listen to yourselves. "Depressed" my foot. As others have said, the nature of this presser was very different from all the bells and whistles of Klopp's introduction, and he approached it accordingly like a good professional. There's also the factor that his English, while it's not at all bad, still needs practice and that in itself will have made him stop and think more often. Get a grip. You can be sure he will.

I'm not expecting much this Sunday given the extent of the injuries and the little time most of the squad have been present for training because of internationals.

I'd settle for a bit of passion, pride and Sakho knocking Kane on his arse a few times.

That might be enough to win too

I can see him playing two DM's due to our only out and out DM being incapable, and the defence being iffy.

Certainly looks worried..

It's all a big joke to him, we have a massive game tomorrow and he's fannying around like he's in the playground, I wish we had a manager that took the job seriously.
