Spurs vs Liverpool: Pre-match thread

Gonna be a test of character this. Klopp is great at getting the best out of lesser players, hopefully we'll see some organisation and someone like Ibe or Origi popping up with a bit more self belief.

Rumour going round is that Sturridge might not play because of some niggle. He's really got to convince Klopp he's not as neurotic as Gerrard suggested in his book, because this just can't go on with our supposed top striker.

This guy too. Well, both I guess.

About fucking time, eh? The lad is a massive talent, I can't understand how much he's been overlooked.

ok.. So assuming Sturridge is out, what do we do? Risk Origi? Adapt other attackers to the same role? I'm assuming Firmino is out too?

Yep, Firmino is still out. I guess we can hope that we'll have the advantage of unpredictability. That's about it. Interesting that Sinclair is in the squad given that he's been in dispute with the club over a new contract; I hope he'll get a chance to impress as he's a promising and versatile player.

Remember when this team:

Liverpool: Dudek, Raven, Henchoz, Whitbread, Warnock, Nunez (Smyth 70), Diao (Partridge 111), Biscan, Potter, Mellor (Welsh 52), Sinama Pongolle.
Subs Not Used: Kirkland, Foy.

Beat this team:

Tottenham: Robinson, Pamarot, Gardner, King, Atouba, Ricketts (Defoe 66), Brown, Carrick, Ziegler, Kanoute, Keane (Pedro Mendes 85).
Subs Not Used: Fulop, Naybet, Redknapp.

I'd definitely start with Origi. Anything else will mean sticking someone there out of position, which I'm not a fan of unless there's literally no alternative. Maybe the fact that everybody knows the Studge would be playing if fit might take the pressure off Origi and help him perform.

Confirmed #LFC team v @SpursOfficial: Mignolet, Clyne, Skrtel, Sakho, Moreno, Can, Lucas, Milner, Lallana, Coutinho, Origi

I really hope we can keep a clean sheet.

Klopp's comments during his first presser showed the importance he'll be placing on this aspect of our play. He won't have solved all the problems already but I was glad to hear him zeroing in on this, because it's painfully obvious that this is where our biggest improvements will be needed.

Hardly ideal. Not a goalscorer in the 18. Off top of my head he's down studge, benteke, Ings, firmino, Henderson, flanno, Loren and Gomez for his first game. Any of them could be considered a starter when we have a full squad.

He wanted Origi at Dortmund but he was too expensive.

Sturridge contact with Ibe bit of swelling so not risking him. We also have sinclair. They're young & full of health & motivation.
