Spurs Pre Match Thread (with Cock talk)

If none of the injured players, including Coutinho, come back in time, I would go with this:

----------------------Mignolet------------------------
Clyne--------Matip----------Lovren-------Milner
------------------------Stewart------------------------
---------------Lallana--------Wijnaldum-----------
------Mane--------Sturridge---------Firmino-----

I'd go for this.

Not looking forward to this one at all. We need a good result after the Burnley debacle.

We've already beaten Burton 5-0, that means our form will now lurch in the opposite direction.

All joking aside, Spurs haven't hit top gear yet and have only managed a goal in each game. Liverpool - potential for patchy form in each game or not - are at least in good goal-scoring form.

If the Arsenal-2nd-half Liverpool turns up then I think Spurs could be in trouble.

This will be a draw I reckon, we and Spurs are very similar sides since Potch arrived, and often seem to cancel each other out, a hard working 1-1.

Run and run and run and run and run and run...

Spurs did well last year, but I don't see them matching that form this time around. Their squad depth just doesn't look that great to me, nice "first 11" but a bit thin beyond that.

We'll only be playing their first eleven though, and it's the third game of the season. Sure they haven't hit their stride yet, but neither have we. 1-1.

Quite. But I wasn't talking about just this one game.

They've only managed a goal each game so far, where as we are nine goals from three games (even the Burnley loss was a bit of a freak). It's never easy to predict anything, but I'd say that at this point our attack looks like it will cause them more problems - in fact our defence probably poses more danger to us.

What midfield combo does work for us?

Not one with a lightweight ditherer in it.

If Klopp has decided Lallana doesn't carry enough goal threat for a more attacking position I'd rather see him dropped than dropped into a combative role in deeper midfield. He's just not got the physicality there.

I'd like to see Can/Stewart/Lucas in the deepest position, flanked by two of Milner/Hendo/Wijnaldum/Grujic/Ejaria. In fact, I still think we could do with another central midfielder of high quality.

Let Lallana fight it out with Coutinho/Firmino/Mane/Ojo etc for an advanced role.

Ming

Clyne. Lovern. Klaven. Milner

Wijnaldum Hendo Grujic

Lallana. Firmino. Coutinho

That's what Klopp will pick I reckon. Ideally I'd like to see studge or Origi up top

We are in so much trouble with that defense. And swapping Klavan/Milner with Matip/Moreno doesn't make it better. Well marginally

Rather worrying that after two transfer windows and a full pre-season under Klopp, once I put Mane and maybe Coutinho into the starting XI, there is not one other player that I can add with any kind of confidence or expectation, in any position.

Agree. Clyne fits into this side but I can't argue on the rest of em.

We didn't buy anyone in the winter and the summer purchases are not fully integrated into the team, except for Mane and Ragnar. By the end of this season everything will be much more clear.

Be even more horrible if we lose tomorrow as we don't play again for another 2 weeks due to International break. And it'll all just be a bit doom and gloom on the back of the Burnley shambles too. Win though and it's all positive again. I'd definitely take a draw.

I'm very fucking aware who we bought, and when we bought them.

That's kind of ENTIRELY MY POINT.

Spurs have a real physical presence in their midfield and ours looks lightweight to say the least. That's a big worry for me.
