It will be here. Until then ...

- Skrtel/Agger partnership has become one of the best in the world I think. Both of them have a nasty edge, are comfortable with the ball, tackle well, strong in the air and have pace. We need to hope both stay healthy.

- Martin Kelly is developing really nicely. At worst, a dependable and contributing member of the first eleven.

- Gerrard is getting closer to the "Gerrard" we need to make a proper push for 4th (which we still can get).

- Carroll. Although there's a thread on this, he's getting better and better. Let's hope it continues.

- Suarez. Welcome back. We missed you.

I'll leave the negative stuff to Ryan.

Did you think Gerrard looked good? I thought him and Kuyt didn't seem to know where they were supposed to be.

Maybe it was my stream - but his presence and ability on the ball creates problems for the opposing team. He's not there yet, but I'm seeing more and more positive signs.

I thought we needed to push it and take a risk if we were going to win, but we weren't willing to do it.

I'm disappointed by that but at the same time if we over committed tottenham were good enough to beat us.

Enrique was a massive miss, same with playing Johnson on the left, he's not that effective there in the attacking sense. Kelly is solid but was average going forward, although his crossing got a little better as the game went on.

I'd say kuyt and adam myself.

Gerrard do his usual "i'll be everywhere because I'm deadboss" thing

I thought Adam was one of our better performers too.

Some of his delivery was brilliant, he won the ball back a few times and there wasn't too much hollywood shite.

I thought adam was shit and didn't like the idea of defending. Backed of too much and his positioning was atrocious

I thought Spearing and Kelly (save for a cross in the last minute) looked a little lost at times.

I thought Gerrard was lost last night TBH.

Showed his usual composure on the ball but made no successful runs into the box or near it & position wise didn't seen to have a clue where was meant to be playing, or even where he wanted to play.

I don't think the stevie that makes marauding runs through cm will be back again sadly, bar the odd occasion.

He may need to learn that discipline that keane brought to his game at utd in order to prolong his career. I've always said within a couple of years I can see him being used as a DM & CB when we're short, cos he could do it provided he can learn that positional discipline.

Agree re: spearing, but I think kelly was overly cautious more than lost

-Skrtel is a beasssssttttt!!

-Agger also excellent, but didn't come out of defence with the ball like he usually does last night and there was plenty of opportunity to do so with Spurs sitting so deep.

Johnson and Kelly- Good defensive wise, pretty shocking going forward.

Spearing gave the ball away far too much which isn't like him. Normally keeps it simple.

Adam and Gerrard. Both a bit meh, no cutting edge.

Bellamy - I thought it was one of his poorer performances for us, thought he would of been taken off ahead of Kuyt to be honest.

Kuyt- usual performance from him, lot of energy, not a lot of end product. Thought he deserved to stay on ahead of Bellamy considering his goals in last 2 games.

Carroll- Much better again. Good work rate, won a lot of the headers. Kept the ball better than usual but probably should have scored. Trouble is when he is winning the flick ons, it won't really work against teams who are sitting so deep at Anfield. He must be well pissed off with the "quality " of crosses though!

I thought we were terrible last night. Yes solid at the back but terrible in all the important attacking aspects. I come on here and I start to think positive - when I see all these glowing posts. Am I setting out unrealistic standards?

We seem very hard to beat mind. So many good results. It feels sooo close...

"Charlie Adam made six chances for teammates v Tottenham but none were converted"

"The Scot stood out in the Liverpool midfield in terms of his distribution. He hit more passes than any player on the park (69) and had more touches than any other (92). He was the most accurate midfield passer in a red shirt, with an 87 per cent completion rate."

Adam, once again was one of our only creative forces. I also thought he was disciplined, and won the ball back on a number of occasions.

Its amazing how many people see a different player as being the worst performer last night .....

Yep, that's what I saw. Much improved.

I felt like I was going a bit nutso last night as everyone around me was going on about how shit Adam was being, and while he did a few fuck ups and you could hear the groans from everywhere when he did, anything he did good was roundly ignored.

There was one bit where he did a bit of one two with Glenjo and it was all fine and yet loads of people around were muttering 'what the fuck did you do that for?' and I was thinking if he was at Blackpool he'd have got a bit of gentle applause for that. It's as if he's become the one it's ok to shout at, and I don't particularly see why - and I defo don't see how it's meant to make him feel any better.

Glad to read them stats as I thought it must be just me seeing a half decent player who was trying very hard.

Adam has become an easy target, and people seem to have an enormous blind spot in respect of the chances he creates and good work he does. He was easily one of our best players. Some of his passing was sublime last night, and he won a good few tackles last night without a trademark lazy one thrown in.

Good post LTW.

Just an observation. The reason Agger isn't coming upfield with the ball on his feet as much as we'd like to see is simply down to how the opposition are defending against our CBs.

This could change slightly over time however as Skrtel has looked very assured with a few forward runs of late too, but it's evident that our opponents frontman is first and foremost told to make sure Agger doesn't get time and space to go forward. You really can't blame them but it's annoying to watch when you just want to see the Aggernaut cause havoc upfield.

Adam seems the be the new Lucas..... (as in getting picked on while quietly doing a good job)

Yeah I thought he did ok last night. And that cross to Kuyt was outstanding.

Asbo, when you're a central midfielder whose best attribute is passing, and creating chances is what you're best at...
and you're lining up against a team that is sitting back, (aka so whatever defensive duties you had aren't all that demanding)...
then having a "quiet" game is shit.

He did play better than he has, but he wasn't outstanding, or one of our best players.

The fact that he laid on 6 presentable chances last night despite mainly playing in a role that demanded some defensive responsibility demonstrates that he had a game that should be drawing praise. That ball he hit for Kuyt (like the assist for Carroll against Wolves) was an absolute gilded peach of a delivery- perfect. I do worry some supporters will never get over the fact that he looks like a builder, and give him credit where it is due. He did have 3 or 4 games on the bounce where he wasn't at his best, but he has really come back into form. It is a pity some just don't see it.

He created 6 scoring opportunities. For a central midfielder I'd say that was 'outstanding'. His ball to Kuyt. Describe in one word....

He definitely wasn't 'shit' and created more chances than Spearing, Bellers, SG, Carroll or any other player on the pitch.

This stat is something we really need to improve: successfull crosses Liverpool 25% and Spurs 40 %......

I thought johnson was very good defensively. for the most part he kept a very lively walker in his place without the support of a kuyt like figure on the right. you would not think that he was not a natural left back based on that performance. i also loved the way he was first in to help agger in his tussle with bale - good team ethos.

btw - reina = world class.
