Babel out, Yossi in is pretty much a fucking given yes?

What else? Is that mad dog Skrtel fit? I can't see too many chnages, unless enforced through injuries. Pretty much cos we've got fuck all decent options to come in anyway. What's wrong with N'gog by the way?

So, same 4-4-2 with Benayoun in on the left. Everybody happy with that?

And the score?

I'll go for 1-0, Gerrard.
 
I think until Aquilani is fit, we need to sacrifice Gerrard's favored position for the better of the team. Mascherano & Lucas cannot be responsible for moving the ball throughout the game ... so:

I would like to see Lucas playing perhaps to the right of Gerrard, in 4-3-2-1 or 4-3-3

Much as I would like to see Babel given (yet) another chance, we cannot take the chance and lose more points.

If Riera is healthy, he'll obviously replace Babel. Nothing against Lucas, but we really need a 'capable passer' near Mascherano. And Lucas isn't ready just yet to take that responsibility.

I think our options off the bench aren't 'scary' - I think it's a good thing to give some responsibility to our kids. They'll surprise still, and for the better I think.

Yup. No need for two holding midfielders. We need to batter these lads, get confidence up.
 
Same as yesterday but with Yossi replacing Babel

This game should be won, but we will probably make hard work of it. We didn't even manage a goal against this lot last season
 
I would definately drop one of lucas or masher, stoke's plan will be to stick bodies behind the ball like they did to us TWICE keep the game at 0-0 as long as humanly possible and then pour bodies forwards when ever they get a set piece. we wont need two central midfielders.

Ideally Kuyt would spend a lot of time in the box, supporting Torres this time, rather than Torres drifting out right as he did against Spurs.
 
Considering how they shut us down this year I just hope we go at them with real urgency from the off.

I think Stoke is going to be a good gauge of our season ahead. Typically, we've found these home games against a stubborn defence difficult to win. Mainly due to our reserved approach to the game. We need to be more adventurous and really take the game to the opposition, all guns blazing. Pile on enough pressure to make them buckle. Winning these games will be the making or breaking of our season. We dropped far too many points against such teams last year.
 
If we drop any points against the Stoke, Rafa is gonna get an almighty kick in the swingers.

I'm expecting exactly the same team minus Babel for Reira. Or if he's not fit, then Benayoun.

I tend to agree with playing Gerrard in CM with Kuyt along-side Toress, with Yossi on the right. We should go straight at them from the first whistle.
A must win game, and i think it will end 2-0 to us.

I think Insua is a better crosser of the ball than Dossena.
I can see the team remaining the same for Stoke.
 
no mention of an injury and not, as rumoured, attending jarque's funeral. where was riera yesterday?

he's a very good player.
