REPORTS today have claimed Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers could yet hold talks with Liverpool chiefs about succeeding Kenny Dalglish.
A number of London-based national newspapers are reporting Rodgers will speak to Anfield chiefs in the coming days despite the 39-year-old turning down an approach to be interviewed for the job less than two weeks ago.
Rodgers was unhappy with the prospect of unsettling his current position at the Swans, with Liverpool offering no guarantee he would get the job as they looked to interview a number of candidates.
There have been claims Rodgers was flown to America for talks about the job over the weekend but those seem wide of the mark, with Rodgers having planned a trip to New York several months ago.
And WalesOnline understands Swans chiefs are still confident Rodgers is going nowhere.
Wigan boss Roberto Martinez still appears the favourite to take on a role at Anfield, with reports suggesting Liverpool bosses are keen to introduce a two-tier stucture that would see a young, dynamic manager work under a more experienced figure.
Dutch coaching legend Louis Van Gaal is understood to be in pole postion for that role, while Martinez will announce his future plans at a press conference tomorrow.
The continuing speculation around Rodgers is thought to be frustrating Liberty Satdium bosses as they believed the issue had been put to bed less than a fortnight ago.
On May 18, the club released a statement after receiving an official approach from Liverpool to speak with Rodgers.
It read: "Swansea City can confirm that an approach from Liverpool FC to speak to manager Brendan Rodgers was officially received by club chairman Huw Jenkins this morning.
"The club is pleased to confirm that Brendan has declined the current opportunity to speak to the Anfield club about the vacant position.
"The Swansea manager is currently working hard to strengthen the squad in readiness for the new Barclays Premier League campaign.
"The club will make no further comment at this stage."
Martinez may well have picked up on the fact that there is a wave of visceral hostility to him from the "supporters."
Wow! He sounded pretty sure of himself. Klopp for DOF? Decision by end of week?
If Klopp does go for the DOF role, this adds credence to the idea of a 5-10 year plan with the DOF as the real power broker in developing/overseeing a vision for the footballing style/personnel of the club.
Interesting.
Has spider niel taken umbrage at being asked to post less than 5000 times a day, or what? I hope Ryan's satisfied.
Apperantly his source is a German journo.
Its obvs shite, but one can hope.
What did he say in the interview?
they must have had something in mind when they got rid of commoliAll this whole charade tells me is how desperately those Americans must have wanted Dalglish out the door.
No replacement even close to being lined up, combined with being rejected by a line up of B-level European managers.
They must really have wanted him gone.

Ryan will be delightedYeah, the actual candidate is probably Steve McLaren or somebody.
Are you basing this on the last two weeks of insightful journalism?Lol. Only our club would appoint one of the best young managers and put him in a DOF role.
. id just like to see gerrards face
Fox, we've got you taking everything the press report as gospel, & Neil believing anything anyone says on Twitter as gospel.
You're both wrong, for the same reason.
How likely is it that Swansea are signing players and Rogers leaves?Swansea have just released a statement saying there's been no contact from Liverpool re Rodgers.
