BREAKING: Sky Sports agrees three-year deal to show live games from the Chinese Super League.

Why ? I watch it now and again and whilst it's not total crap it's not brilliant. Guess all that money flowing into Europe will go up a few gears now.

I can only imagine the interest is around the amount of recognisable players out there.

Unless something totally weird has happened and instead of paying the league for the rights to broadcast, the CSL has actually paid Sky, in order to raise its profile.

Has to be. Not sure many will watch it though, standard will be shocking despite the recognisable footballers out there. Watch sky increase their subscriptions still

It's really most odd. I remember years ago when C4 made a big deal of their Serie A rights, but that was because our most famous player had just moved there, and it was also arguably the best league in the world.

Agree, football Italia was great though, and on free to air TV. The CSL deal is just odd. Who is out there that is worth watching? No one I guess, it's all those ex European based players who were faltering at their last European clubs or missed out on a move to the big European clubs

Sky are losing viewing rights all over the place.

We may not be able to show you the CL or the EL, but we can show you the CSL!!!!!!!111

I suppose there's also an audience who will just watch ANY football at all, so it's just mopping up as much as possible to give them wall-to-wall football

Just maybe there is some truth that the richest man in China want to start a new version of the CL that include more clubs from the best leagues. Just maybe it will include Chinese clubs. Maybe Sky will get the European TV rights if it starts and this is the first step.

Aye, greedy fuckers. A bit of a reality check for them in losing the Champions League

It's a real shame there's no CL on ITV/ Sky anymore, but nobody was willing to match what BT were willing to pay.

But the losers are the audience, because without that Sky/ ITV option, not that many people will be able to watch it, unless they give BT money too. I'm quite surprised UEFA actually sold the rights to one broadcaster, especially given their audiences will be tiny. The huge amount BT paid is eye-boggling, but they lose out on exposure.

They'll probably demand that BT show some matches free

Yeah they showed a couple of free matches , wasn't the Europa league final also on YouTube ?

Will the bubble burst at some stage and people stop paying these subscriptions? There are loads of different ways to stream matches these days and the quality is getting better. With good H, android boxes, Amazon firestick etc. it's easier than ever to watch them on your tv rather than laptop or tablet too.

Has the UK been subjected to the Indian Premier League or the A-League yet.

The horror..... the horror....
