I find it quite amusing that some people are treating Ross as some kind of authority on this

Tee hee
Indeed, especially as earlier in the piece he says he "got the figures wrong" about simple profit and loss.

Truth is we are fed speculation by journalists and should know better than to give it any credence. Bidders bids will be confidential for obvious reasons.

Wait for an announcement, at least then we can review information from 'experts' and hopefully glory in a new beginning.
Yes the difference between the 11m I quoted off the top of my head and the 13m that I found in the accounts absolutely destroys whatever little credibility I had.

As most people remember I called it all correctly last time.
Just accept it Ross. Random fans OBVIOUSLY know what they're talking about, rather than someone who takes an intetest in the club accounts
Taking an interest doesn't make you an expert.
No one said it did, but for the people who know little about the business side, I don't see how listening to someone who takes an Intrest is negative

I'm with Hansern.

Wouldn't It Be GREAT to just be a fan again?

You know. A fan of Liverpool FC. Celebrating wins and trophies. Being excited by transfer windows and who might be joining. Enjoying the rivalry with Everton, United et al.

Because that's been all but sucked out of us over the last few years.

Instead - as evidenced by various LFC forums - we've been driven seemingly insane by the need to try and become (and in every case, fail) experts on financing, debt, loan repayments, and administration. To attempt to decipher the media machinations, in-fighting, agendas, lies and manoeuvering. To read between the lines of every press statement and article telling us who is leaving/ staying/ getting fired/ hired/ sacked. To pretend that mediocre Player X or Y is "just what we need" or "is still young" because we can't afford anyone better.

I haven't enjoyed being a Liverpool fan for years.

I'd like it back please.

All - can we pack the sniping at each other please and get the discussion back on track? Grjt - Hanserns post didnt warrant such a response so chill the fuck out please.

genuine question.
what's to stop Kenny Huang saying he is backed by people with deep pockets now and then at a later stage saying 'well, actually they (the people with deep pockets) are no longer interested' after he owns the club?
Because by all accounts he is a deal broker rather than a billionaire himself and doesn't have the finances to buy the club on his own.
Exactly. Any funds would need to placed into an escrow account anyway before any transaction takes place. I'd expect the money for the club plus funding for the stadium to be requested by the board.

Fuck off Gertrude!

I have no problem understanding any of with, it's more to do with the fact that everything is twisted and turned in the media. Every story out there has a different approach and a different view on what the scenario is and how it all could be resolved.
Thats what this is all about.

You're probably the most irritating fuckwit on this forum, so please just crawl back under your stone and stay there.

You probably think you're funny, but thats shockingly far from the truth. If you don't have anything constructive to say then please do us all a favour and;

Shut.the.fuck.up.
So your previous post was just melodramatic bollocks then? Thanks for clearing that up.

One minute its all "this is ever so complicated" the next "I have no problem understanding any of this". What is the latest devastating insight?????? THE MEDIA TWIST AND TURN THINGS. Thank fuck you are here genius.

Fuck me, you're a tosser.

*pokes grjt in both eyes simultaneously*

Very interesting take and I like the boldness to push the envelope:

Liverpool's potential investors, a Far East Sovereign Wealth Fund that includes Kenny Huang, are looking to secure a takeover of the club at a knockdown price.

The investors intend to use their funds to pay for the new stadium and new players rather than line the pockets of owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks as the shares are "worthless".

"The owners will be a Far East Sovereign Wealth Fund of which Kenny Huang will be one of two main partners and owners of Liverpool football club,'' a source close to the talks revealed. "The Sovereign Wealth Fund has been in touch with the Royal Bank of Scotland and the Liverpool board to inform them that they do not value the equity of the company higher than the debt.

"The debt stands at around £350 million and at the moment the valuation is based on between 80p to £1 in the pound, but no more. In layman's terms the shares are worthless, and therefore there is no offer to the current shareholders."

That means that the offer from the Sovereign Wealth Fund is to cover all of Liverpool's current debts, most of which are with the RBS at close to £240 million. A guarantee that RBS will get its money back is extremely appealing to the bank, but not to Hicks and Gillett.

"The problem for the bank is that if this offer is not accepted soon, then the value drops, it drops if it goes past the point where investment cannot be made in new players, and to persuade the best players to stay,'' the source added. "You can understand why Gillett and Hicks would say no, because they want some value from their shares.

"It has been suggested there are alternative bids, but from the Sovereign Wealth Fund's perspective, that's fine. If they do not materialise there is a danger that the financial crisis will depend upon the extent that Liverpool go into distress.

"The new chairman was appointed by the bank as part of their agreement to extend the loan facility, but it has now emerged that the bank can call in part of that loan in October. If Liverpool do not accept this deal which is on the table, then the alternative could be dire, if they cannot find an alternative buyer.

"The board are faced with a stark choice, they could be faced with a sharp dip in valuation of the company, top players leaving and little funds to buy new ones. What this takeover will provide is the funds to start construction on a new stadium which is long overdue. This is crucial. You are not in the game if you do not have a modern stadium.''

The club needs selling. Anyone can see that. Tom and George are gambling with a weak hand but they're also quite adept at bluffing.

Well, that worked. At killing the thread.

Haha, how sad is it that as we enter the final month, we're discussing who might own the club rather than who we sign. We get to see Chelsea sign someone or whatever, and West Ham or whoever are able to do at least *something* interesting. Being a fan of LFC during a transfer window is like being the owner of a ski resort at the equator; fuck all exciting seems to happen.

The ownership situation is way more important than signing players - especially player's we're used to being disappointed in.

I know, it's more the fact that it's happening now, rather than 2 months ago or whatever.

On the radio earlier, some guy reckoned the only reason H&G are stalling as much as possible is because the new TV deals are set to go through Spet-ish and are worth much more than the current deal.

We will buy another 2 or 3 players before the window closes .. the quality of those players will depend on the progress of any sale. TBH if the sale goes on into the Autumn I'm not that concerned so long as we have a team that can fight our way into the top 4.

It's more important to get in owners who in the very near future are going to invest heavily in the club in the form of paying off the debt, building the new stadium & investing in quality players.

yeah, my post is BY FAR the most offensive entry on this thread, and was in no way a pretty innocuous submission highlighting the fact that some posters will use ANY snippet ( or absence) of information to reaffirm their belief in impending disaster.

What a fucking joke - great site management.

Ha, you've got away with far more than others on here, so for you to be slating 'the management' is a bit rich.

*Sorry if this has been posted before*

Apparently we've notified the Prem League about the takeover. Reason being that under the new rules the Prem needs 10 days notice in order to do their fit and proper checks.

I really hate G & H.. and i hope they sell up and dont make a profit at all 🙂 would be great
I doubt anyone would disagree, but that's a side issue. The priority is to get the right outcome for the club, whatever happens regarding those two shysters.

If what has been written in the papers is to be believed then it sounds credible that something is about "to-give"
If one reads the comments from David Villa about Fernando leaving and then contrast them with Fernando's enthusiasm today then I think its plausible that Torres has been privy to "better" information regarding a new take-over development and that something might happen in the coming days/a week

I for one am very excited about this season. If the boys can stay fit (which was our main problem last season) then I don't know why we shouldn't be able to get back into the top-four or more!! We need a couple of new additions but its about staying fit.

My fingers are crossed with regards to the sale of LFC,

YNWA

Villa said those comments were completely made up by the paper.
Villa quoted in Marca today denying that he denied making those remarks.
Ha. It did seem unlikely that a player would speak so openly about another player, I'd imagine he thought he was making the comments off the record.
