Should Barca sell Messi as they rebuild?

The only one fucked is Bartomeu.

There are two options now

1) Let Messi leave for free and the club goes to shit;

2) Be a total dick and start a war with a club legend and most influential figure.

Neither is going to get him reelected. The third option is to keep sucking Messi, and let him choose the new manager.

TBF Messi has already met Koeman or so it seems.

Seeing as Koeman is Dutch (they are very blunt) I guess it went like this :

Messi : What are your ideas for the team and my position and how are the team going to be managed ?

Koeman : My ideas, my players, my way. Any more questions?

Messi : *leaves the room*

That sounds like a football manager 2020 conversation...

Well, he already made the 3rd option impossible by choosing the head-strong Koeman who has started his reign by going to Messi's house and telling him his best mate Suarez is going to have his contract terminated and that he, Messi, will "no longer get any special treatment." This coming from a manager who last coached Everton towards the best player in the history of the game left Messi with little alternative but to start packing his bags. It's really amazing to witness how one thoroughly incompetent and stubborn administrator can destroy a great club.

Barcelona presidential candidate Jordi Farre has announced that he will present a vote of no confidence against current president Josep Maria Bartomeu on Wednesday morning. Farre's move came on a day when Lionel Messi demanded to leave Barcelona by activating a clause in his contract that would allow him to depart on a free transfer. All members of Barcelona will be eligible to sign the motion against Bartomeu, which will proceed if it receives enough signatures. In the event of a vote, Bartomeu will be forced out if at least 66 per cent of the total are against him.

Messi's decision took place amid a backdrop of intense turmoil at Barca which was sparked by the club's 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-final earlier this month. Following on from that embarrassing loss, head coach Quique Setien and technical director Eric Abidal both left the club with Bartomeu under increasing pressure. That pressure was turned up even more on Tuesday, with Barcelona fans descending on Camp Nou to voice their displeasure over the uncertain future of Messi. Many were demanding Bartomeu step down.

Farre took to social media to announce his move as he looks to continue putting pressure on Bartomeu ahead of the club's presidential elections in March. "Tomorrow at 9am I will present a vote of censure against Bartomeu and his board of directors," Farre tweeted. "For the sake of Barca we cannot allow them to continue for another minute."

On Sunday, Farre made headlines when he said he said he has held talks with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp's representatives over taking the same role at Barca, despite Ronald Koeman just being appointed the club's new head coach. "Obviously, we have our roadmap and we had already started several conversations with Jurgen Klopp, because it seems to us that Barca need such a coach," Farre told Sport.

Pressed on whether Koeman is the right appointment for Barca at present, Farre responded: "It is an exceptional moment and Koeman is a good solution considering that he is a legend of Barcelona, a benchmark. Because of his character, I think that was what the club needed now. I wish him the best because the challenge is huge."

When you need to start a conversation several times, perhaps the other person isn't that keen on talking.

Hahaha reckon the Barca fans are lapping up that Klopp link or seeing through it? No chance.

Fucking hell. I get him being pissed off, but you think being paid a million a week would satisfy the sulky dwarf for twelve months.

It would be a disaster if he joined City.

He’s going nowhere.

Koeman will out of a job before he’s managed a game and a new President will be installed.

Messi will get a raise and publicly sucked off by the new President.

A bigger laugh would be a new President going on a mission to bring Pep home - The mekon-headed ball bag - leaving City with.... at best Poch - but hopefully someone like Kompany or Viera to step in.

Id laugh my balls off.

Bartomeu has really messed this one, hasn't he? Didn't Koeman instigate some kind of civil war at Valencia, being eventually run out of the club (just a few points above relegation, I think).

Imagine starting a civil war at one of the top ten clubs in the world....and choosing the manager of Everton as your champion.

Bart is out in a year anyways so doesn’t really matter on that front. Koeman is just there to pave the way for the next guy - strange job for him take on, dream or no dream.

I can’t see any way back for Messi now. If they get rid of the president and the coach on his account all the cynics who have accused the dressing room “amigos” of running / ruining the club will be proven right.

Crazy that they’ve allowed things to get to this point - there has been fair warning.

Lol as if.
But I'd like to think that we might counter City getting Messi with us getting Suarez.

I can just see Fulham or some poor unfortunates having to turn out against Messi city

Trying to fuck Messi till the end - he knows Messi can’t accept a public offer like that.

How about just resigning Messi or no Messi.
