Are you a Glens man Doc or have you just a special disliking to the 'proud' potato head?
I can't claim to be a real Glens man, though I used to go and support the Glens for cup finals and big games and get attacked by their horrible fans (back in the day when Glens/Linfield matches were the side event to the fighting).

Super Seasiders for me.
the oval was a crack den, it was a punishment to be taken there
The Oval is a shithole sure. Are you a Shitfield fan Markeh?

Last time I was there was to see the Liverpool legends, but a few of my pals have been trying to talk me into going back to watch the Glens.
nah but the bb used to bring us to linfield games ages ago, the away section of the oval was so horrible.

strange you mention steve morrow i've got his autograph somewhere, hardly a prized possesion lol

Probably the evilest thing I've ever done was buying my niece a Liverpool top (I'd convinced her to be a fan) and her Da, my brother in law, is a manc. It killed him to see his beloved daughter wearing the shirt. The thing was his son was supposedly a manc fan, but after we'd won the FA cup I was bouncing round their place giving it "Liverpool, Liverpool, Liverpool- Liverpool, Liverpool, Liver-po-oo-ll" (pissed), and the wee man joined in and wouldn't stop singing it no matter how much his Da pleaded with him to stop.

Happy days.
I'm still waiting for the ex-friend story, Doc.
He had an affair with a bird i'd been seeing (7 year relationship like).

He'd been trying it on for years too before the she went for it. Best pal since we were about 16. Did me a favour in the end up, she was a serious pain in the arse.

I met Lawrie Sanchez at the Oval once, I was nearly blinded by his weird orange glow.
I met Ian Dowie out with (what you call yer man who had his arm broken by Adams in the FA cup final) in the Bot. Dowie had his shirt unbuttoned to the waist, comlete with medallion and was brilliant craic. Yer man was a dick.
Steve Morrow ?

that's him.

He always seemed quite joyless judging by his facial expressions during the games. Legend or not I always hated watching Dowie play, he would win endless balls in the air but it was completely random which direction the ball would go after he won it.

Yeah, he was the bluntest of blunt attacking players. But a good lad and cult hero nevertheless.

He was absolutely hammered, and had something of Swiss Tony about him. He got the rounds in rightly.

BTW great thread Doc.

Mancs, by a country fucking mile.

Then Celtic, then Real Madrid, & Germany.

I've owned & worn an Argentina top, but could never wear a Germany top.

And Danny Baker can fuck off !
Quite. I couldn't do it.
If I'm in a sports shop and I am near the Scum/Chav racks (nightmare because we are often right next to the Chav shite due to both of us being Adidas) I find it hard to even look at them, in fact, I want to set fire to the rags.
Its the same for me; tho to be honest the Chav shirts dont bother me as much.

Unfortunately, you cant go out in the streets without seeing at least 10 people a day wearing that fucking cunting 'AIG' shirt in various colours so I always feel ill.
Yeah Real Madrid. Forgot them. A few years ago I had a Madrid shirt, when it was hierro, morientes, zidane, redondo etc, but I fucking loathe them now.

Despite being Irish and (nominally) a catholic I have to say I'd hate to wear a Celtic jersey too.

True story. A few years ago I used to car pool with a few guys who lived close and worked together on a job over in Yorkshire. Anyway it was my turn to drive and I turn up at the meet point and one of the guys has turned up in a manc shirt. Now its December and bloody freezing and he's not wearing a coat or anything and has walked about 15 mins to get to the meet point, but obviously I'm not going to let him in the car so I put the locks on and tell him to fuck off back home and change his shirt and I'll give him 10 mins (which I felt was being overly generous, but I was in a good mood). He gets really really arsey and threatens to kick a dent in my car so I drive off and leave him. Apparently his wife had his car that day so he couldn't get to the job and he ends up getting sacked.

The thought of just being close to a manc shirt gives me the eebiejeebies. If I had to wear one I'd pass away.

Well I've always followed Rangers, as every one of my mates did, for religous reasons like, so I grfew up hating Celtic.

Same with Real, I've always been a Barca boy so couldnt wear a Real top. Despite them having some fit tops over the years.

I am originally from close to Slane Jack but haven't lived there in over twenty five years.

I have no ties to the area any more, not a bad thing perhaps 😉

I take it you are a Dundalk man seeing you have a fondness for the Drogs

Same here.

I think it is because of the association I make about the vast amount of people you see wearing them round here.

I also know a couple of fans who are sound but that doesn't change my overalll view of them.

Fighting talk is the best hour of radio every single week. The best guests they have always end up being rugby players. Jeff Probyn was brilliant and Austin Healey is usually great too.
