I think some are being overly critical of Long. I don't think he's anywhere near as good as Leo is making out but he does have a number of great qualities some that are very hard to teach.
He works incredibly hard for the team defensively (alot like a certain Mr Kuyt did for 6 years)
His movement is excellant and constant.
He's a nightmare for defenders who like to play out from the back as proven against us in the first game of the season. He gives defenders zero time to pick a pass and is always looking to nip in and take it off their toe (see the peno Skittles gave away) He reminds of Suarez in that respect which is a great trait.
He is a very comfortable when presented with a decent chance in front of goal. (something we have lacked for a long time)
Sunny pointed to his record of 1/4 but in fairness he's played 250 games 95 of which have been as a sub and still score just shy of 70 goals which is better than 1/4.
His stats are that impressive as up until this year he's never been a regular starter for his club.
Clarke has given him his chance and boy is he taking it.
He's still got 5/6 years of football in him and will only improve.
He's not getting a game for Ireland because our manager is blind. (Wes Houlihan can't get a game either)
Whether he is good enough for a top 4 side I doubt it but we aren't a top 4 side at the moment and haven't been for a few years now. He would definitely improve us and based on the attribute he has I think he would do very well for us playing up top.
I doubt we'd get him for anything less than 10M though.
As a side of all the Scousers on here bar Pete Sunny would be the friendliest to Irisih so on that point Leo you are way off the mark.
