I'm not clutching at any straws really.
We would have scored more goals this season if we signed Long instead of Borini.
I will.Hard to argue.
If we're dealing in obvious things, then we should have got Rooney as a kid, or bought van persie years back
Hindsight is magical.
Of course if borini bangs in 20 goals next season, I hope to see you post about his excellence
I wonder why he only made 24 appearances?
The shrewd Italians wouldn't let a top talent go for 10 mil.
Time will tell but I'd be amazed if he's still a Liverpool player in 2 years.
Henderson had 100 games played at that age so it makes no odds. He's still only 21 maybe ?
He has been excellent this season.Yes.Leo, let's get back to your original point that you made instead of using other players as a comparison point. Is Shane Long really, truly excellent ? My opinion ? No. I think he's an OK, quick, hardworking player who'll score a few. I don't think he's good enough for anything other than a squad player we need to set our sights higher and better than that. Whether we can achieve that I really don't know.
More like Shane Mong innit
Shamon!
And 14 league goals in 13 appearances this season as well as 12 in 28 last season (compared to Longs massive total of 8 in 32) and 2 years younger than Long as well. He's just an example. Long's OK he's just not 'excellent'
You do always have to take the dutch scoring records with a huge pinch of salt though. To put his goals into perspective Jozy fucking Altidore has 9 goals this season for 12th place AZ Alkmaar. That's Jozy Altidore who I don't think scored here in a season with Hull
LIVERPOOL are set to launch a £12million January bid for striker Shane Long.
Even though West Bromwich Albion are riding high in the Premier League – and even though Long, 25, still has two-and-a-half years left on his contract – the striker would jump at the chance to move to Anfield.
Brendan Rodgers remains a fan of Long’s from his time managing Reading and the fact the Reds made a bid to sign him when Kenny Dalglish was in charge shows they have serious intentions.
Anfield chiefs have let Long’s advisors know they are interested, especially as his £25K-a-week wages fit well within their tight budget.
And the Irishman’s advisor, Pat Dolan, is fully aware of Liverpool’s desire to get him on board, having listened to their sales pitch in 2011.
But he also knows West Brom will not want to sell, especially as Long’s fitness fits perfectly into Steve Clarke’s lone-striker system.
The Republic of Ireland hitman has scored seven goals for the Baggies this term, pushing them into a European spot.
But while Long is happy at the Hawthorns he is ambitious.
Why would they sell. Only silly money would tempt them
Mother fucka hee heeeeShamon!
Yay, only One third of a Stewart Downing or a Jordan Henderson.£12m is silly money for Shane Long. He's worth half that
