What's the mad bastard up to?

[article]Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has apologised on social media for leaving Anfield before the Merseyside derby against Everton.

France international Sakho was not selected in the squad for the match and was photographed by a fan leaving the stadium before Saturday lunchtime's clash.

The match finished 1-1 thanks to Toffees skipper Phil Jagielka's last-gasp screamer cancelling out Steven Gerrard's earlier free-kick.

The former PSG man has taken to social media to apologise for any offence caused.

"I really want to apologise to the club, the supporters and every person who felt offended when I left the stadium this afternoon," he said on his Facebook page.

"I'm aware that it was a bad choice from my part to go isolating to watch the game!"[/article]

i feel more let down that he's bang average on the pitch .

I think dropping Sahko is another indication that Rodgers doesn't want to take responsibility for our defensive frailty. If a player creates or scores a goal then Rodgers is happy to talk about how he's been talking to said player about getting forward more, scoring more goals etc. Conversely, if we concede goals it's all about individual errors. Dropping Sahko (as he did Skrtel last season after the Oldham game) is just scapegoating, and doesn't address the problem. It's been over two years now. There can't be any question of getting used to "the way we work" any more. Rodgers has plenty to work with, and our defence hasn't improved at all. The problem is systemic, and the sooner he recognises that, the sooner we can begin to rectify it.

I was pretty confident that Lovren - Sakho would be an ace partnership as Centre Back pairings go, but looking at Skrtel and Lovren in the derby and the game against Spurs it's pretty clear that should be the first choice one. I don't know what's up with Sakho - he seems to be a good centre back but can't seem to form a good enough partnership with anyone bar that fella he plays with in the french team (Varane?). Shame because I thought he would be decent and I still have doubts about Skrtel.

He does recognise it Del, he just doesn't know how to fix it.

From day one I've said it about Rodgers; he has no clue about setting a team up defensively.

Sadly, I think he'll be on his way in January. Shame cause he has all the attributes to be a great CB.

Which is what baffles me.

I mean, he worked with Mourinho for years - surely he should have been able to pick up a thing or two?

Sakho played in that.

I'm a bit disappointed in this to be honest. I think he has the potential to be a good centre back for us, and he hasn't done much wrong when he's played - especially when you see all of our centre backs looking dodgy in one way or another.

Apart from being to able to defend.

For those of us who have seen him play for France and PSG know that defending isnt an issue.

Replacing Sakho with another CB wont automatically solve our defensive issues either.

He has made quite a few fuck ups lately, though. He really isn't comfortable on the ball whatsoever.

I agree. But then what's the solution? Hope to fuck we just outgun everyone? Ain't gonna happen without Suarez. Or do we get a defensive coach in? I know many think it's a daft idea, but then give me another solution.

The facts are simple. If he can't fix the defence and we can score as many as last season now that Luis is gone, we are shafted. So what do we do? Get rid of him?

Yep, definitely. I haven't noticed him directly cost us goals. None that I can think of off the top of my head, and certainly less than Skrtel has in the past, and Lovren has this season.

People don't like him because he's awkward looking and gangly.

That's a good point and he does get more harshly criticised as a result of looking awkward on te ball, but he has made mistakes and dismissing them because a goal wasn't scored is a poor way of looking at things because it relies on other factors.

The bottom line with Sakho is he's not been nowhere as good as you would hope for £17M. The same is true of Lovren. They both need to get it together.

Because he's not confident in our defenders who tend to play like drunks with alzeimers

I don't believe that for a second. In my experience having a shit hot keeper behind you as a defender makes defenders better. Having that guy behind you just makes you think about him all the time and how your actions will impact on him. Defenders can't trust him to do anything. The through ball that he let Skrtel deal with that barely went out at the Anny Road end on Saturday was the perfect example. I don't like him. Never have. He's not good enough.

Ultimately it all seems to stem from a lack of communication. Mignolet isn't vocal enough, our cbs aren't vocal enough.

He was a very good keeper at Sunderland when he had 2 cbs who he knew and trusted. They weren't good defenders, but he had a rapport with them. He's consistently been playing behind varied cbs, with Gerrard thrown in deep too. No wonder he looks devoid of confidence, because he's getting good portion of blame for a system thanks failing.

The defence is letting him down, and he's letting the defence down.

Its chicken and egg as GKs play more confidently with good and confident defending in front of them, and Defenders play more confidently with a good and confident GK behind them. When both parties are being hesitant, prone to mistakes and generally looking like they don't know each other it causes issues.
