Do they ever go back to these stories after being proven wrong and made to look like complete tossers?

Someone took Durham to task on it today saying "didn't you say that your sources were 100% that Cole was going to Man Utd".

Durham responded by saying that "at that time" that was the case but Man Utd didn't have the financial clout to see the deal through.

That's why he made the "as of this moment" comment about the Torres deal.

If it's a "done deal" there should be no "of this moment" about it as it's "done".
I'm paraphrasing him Keni.

I should think there might be an official bid coming our way from Chelsea and that Durham might be aware of this. The rest is his hysterical bollocks aimed at engineering a talkshite debate going.

It's a shite rumour. But it kicks you in the gut, cause you wouldn't want to see him in that awful shirt playing for those cunts.

Still, I'm certain that there isn't anything in this, as it's talkshite.

Thats right, Durham later said that Chelsea were ready to bid, and then said Torres owed us another season. Cunt.

Durhams great, aslong as you appreciate all his job entails is getting people to phone the radio station. Every single day him and Goughie will have conflicting views on whatever story they decide to cover, no more, no less.

The radio equivalent of *that* newspaper.

Darren Gough, that oracle of all things football-related. I give more credence to my wife's footballing opinion.

am worried out the bookie suspending betting on torres going to chelsea - didn't they do the same with cole coming to us? they seldom get things wrong...

What like when they suspended betting on Ribery coming to us?

and Rafa leaving three times before he did, amongst other things

Quite. I don't understand why people bother listening to it. All these expert fans that phone up too... fuck off.
Carra, Gerrard and Roy seem to be fans.

This morning Torres was odds on favourite to stay at Liverpool with Paddy Power.
They have only suspeneded betting becuse if in the event of Torres actually going to Liverpool then they would lose their bollox, not because they have insider knowledge.
And there has probably been a flurry of bets on Torres going to Chelsea because some know nothing nob on Talksport said it was so.

I assume they take it for what it is, people talking about sport, mainly football, mainly bollox, but still its footy chat and passes the time.

They paid Carra for some work recently, I imagine that helped somewhat.

Yep, prior to Fabio recalling him he was going to have Durhams show broadcast from his bar for the duration of the tourni.

Actually, I'm fairly confident Torres, is gonna come out and declare his love for the club (again) and say how he intends to fight to get us back challenging. I'm not worried. Fuck off Chelsea.

hope ur right and this is the reason betting is suspended, and yes admit that they dont get it right all the time, but usually they are very close, no?

They're responding to betting patterns.

I'm sure they get *some* information at times, but it would be unreasonable to assume that they have advance notice of most major movements in all sports.

Rory smith on twitter (telegraph)

"There is no truth in whatever rumour's going round about Torres. He's on holiday and has made no decision about his future. #LFC"

How does Rory Smith know about his current decision making process? Has he sent an Inception style team into his dreams to make his mind up for him?

I trust a fellow red that works as journo more than Paddy Power to be honest. He's mates with Dominic King at the Echo and Barrett at the Times.

I think they have some clue about whats going on.

Agreed, but I can see that while they may know he hasn't spoken to anyone, they can't claim to know where he's at with his decision.

Agreed, tbh I don't think anyone knows yet. If he made up his mind already, I guess some of his teammates know and his agent. Hopefully Stevie, Pepe and Carra knows that he's staying.

would anyone accept robinho + 20/30m for torres?

I could be interested if it meant that the cash excess would be invested in another striker (i.e. eto'o).

That would be one of the worst deals in our history.
