Would you say he's in the tier below? People will alwasy bring up his stats and rightfully so, as he's had some phenomenal years ...
Ferguson has really embarassed him - esp since Rooney denied the story in the last few days and said he's happy.

I think if he played for Stoke hed be John Waters.
I think hes been quite lucky going to United and having a lot of top players around him.
He's hard working and on his day BRILLIANT in front of goal, but they (one season apart) are few and far between. His passing is poor, his ball retention is awful and his attitude sucks.
I dont think hes all that special. I could name 20 better strikers,

Im probably being harsh. Dont get me wrong id take him no doubt, but if I was United or Bayern or Madrid or whomever I would be looking for much better.
Originally I agreed with Oncy. He is overrated in the sense that he's spoken of in the same bracket as Messi and Ronaldo. But he's not THAT bad, Jesus.

Higauin, Messi, Ronaldo, Suarez, Lewandowski, Gomez, Benzema, Sturridge, Cavani, Falcao, Van Persie, Reus, Keisling, Mandzukic, Giovinco....top of my head. Is that 20?
Yeah, most of them are better than him, but about 5 or 6 of them aren't. There are a fair few strikers I'd have before him, though.
Rooney's problem is that he is not professional enough.
When you look at the dedication of top players such as Ronaldo and Messi, he is nowhere near their level either on or off the pitch.

Ha I love how so many think he's finished. He's still a superb player and better than 95% of the attacking players in the league.

He allowed his 'decision' to leave United to go out at the same time that Slur Alex resigned, Scholes retired and a new manager was appointed.
He either gets absurdly shit advice or ignores good advice.

As much as I like to hate English players, and I do hate Rooney ... but he is a good footballer. One of few poms I rate.

I think he needs a new club and environment to freshen things up ...
I think a Rooney/Ibra partnership next season at PSG would be brilliant. 2 powerful centre forwards who can poach goals, hit long range screamers, take penalties, headers, free kicks ... the whole lot.
I think he should be encouraged to go abroad because it's something English players need to do more often. Learn different tactics, styles, cultures etc.

They've rejected his request so that Moyes can go in, sell him and 'show everyone he's the boss'. 😛
Or show everyone that he's not as strong, in his ability to keep a top player, as Ferguson.
This isn't going to end up well for Moyes, but I imagine they'll give him a marquee signing or two anyway.
I don't think they'd deliberately set out to sabotage Moyes, but I do think they've always expected that whoever followed Ferguson would be a relative failure, hence they were never likely to appoint a really big name at this stage. Watch out for their next appointment though.
