He should be fined for that 'sinking ship' comment, if he really said it.

Can you be fined for telling it like it is?

Yes.

Benitez da 'holiday' until Monday Riera:

The mess from Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez and the player's team 'red' Albert Riera is increasing. And is that Benitez has given midfielder vacation until next Monday though Thursday's match play Europa League and this weekend is time for the Premier League where Liverpool is measured to Manchester United. Benitez Riera informed the representative of its decision that the player joins the discipline of Liverpool until Monday and the officer took him to the Spanish international.

The 'cracked' by Riera on Wednesday in an interview with Radio Marca could be the trigger for the decision to Benitez. In the interview, said the Spanish player who has no relationship with Benitez and pointed to possible personal issues as the cause of substitution: "When you stop counting in this way has to be something personal, because it is so. If I'm doing something wrong and you are my boss, and count on me, will you come and tell me what to do to play. That's what hurts me. "

Furthermore, players criticized the way of understanding football Benitez when asked whether the technical fit for Real Madrid. "In Madrid, besides winning, you're asked to play well. So I see it difficult. We is not that we ever made a nice football, cash it, but we have not made a brilliant game.

'He thinks he is in charge'

poor the riera

'He thinks he's in charge'

You can read that two ways.

1) Riera is deluded and unaware that as the manager for Liverpool FC Rafa calls the shots especially now that he has control over transfers.

2)Riera know's Rafa is not in charge, he's being undermined by certain players or the fact that Purslow needs to make calls regarding the financial future of the club that will result in changes on the field (transfers).

Personally, I reckon it's number 2. Rafa thinks he's in charge but the players collectively feel the same as Riera and want a change. And if it comes to the crunch the owners won't have an option but to step in and sell players if the financial future of the club is uncertain.

*Sad face*

I thought I was the new Ryan making a serious football post and would be given love for my efforts.

Bastards.

He'll get a hefty fine aswell.

There are rumoured to be 2 russian clubs interested. And the Russian transfer window closes at the 8th of April. Maybe we should just sell him..

Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has launched a withering attack on Reds winger Albert Riera after he went public with his frustration at not getting a game under manager Rafael Benitez.

The Spain international said Benitez did not speak to him and claimed he bore a personal grudge. However, Hamann, who made 283 appearances for the Merseysiders and memorably came on for the second half in their Champions League final comeback against AC Milan in 2005, said Riera should look at himself.

"I didn't read too much into the comments because he's a player who has not played too much football over the last six to eight months," said the former Germany international.

Hamann continued: "He is clearly frustrated but you have to say since he signed for Liverpool (in September 2008) he has not done enough to really have an opinion on the manager.

"If Riera is not in the team it is probably because he is not doing enough in training or in games. You have players these days who complain about managers and I think these players should look at themselves.

"The first question you have to ask when you are not playing is have you done enough to be in the team.

"These days it happens too often with players who can't get in the team and the first thing they do is blame the manager.

"I can honestly say I have never had a problem with a manager in 15 years of my career and I would never blame a manager for not playing."

In his interview, Riera told Radio Marca: "When the coach says nothing to you and you are well, with no physical problems and training well, you cannot help but think it must be something personal."

He also went on to say he felt Liverpool were a "sinking ship" after a poor season which has seen early exits from the title race, Champions League and FA Cup.

Absolutely 100% spot on.

I've never been much of a fan of Riera and didn't want him to sign, but still find myself defending him a little bit after reading this thread. The interview is pretty shocking, but he's right about one thing - we've been fucking dreadful this season and he's not been given a chance to get going in the side. I don't know what's gone on behind doors (and don't particularly care), but come on, he's hardly been that much worse than others playing week in, week out.

I never understand these sort of spats. What did he think he'd achieve?

If Albert is upset about his situation why not simply ask to speak to the Boss and have a clear the air talk with him.

It's not as if he has to keep quiet because he needs the money or would be unable to find another job.

Why air your thoughts in public and make a drama out of a supposed crisis?

Whatever the merits or truth in Albert's rant, you can't allow it; otherwise you have anarchy. Let it go and anybody and everybody with a problem (real or imagined) will be shouting about it in the media.

A bollocking, a fine and advising him that a repeat and he'll be out should be enough.

From Soccernet;

Riera row takes new twist

Liverpool winger Alberto Riera has continued to stoke the flames of the very public falling out with Rafael Benitez by suggesting that his manager has "something personal" against him.

The latest instalment of "Riera-gate" came on Spain's Cadena Ser radio station, as reported in the Daily Telegraph, and while the player did attempt to play down his original comments, when he claimed, among other things, that Liverpool are a "sinking ship", he may only have angered his boss further.

The Spain international, desperate for playing time in order to make the World Cup this summer, was suspended by Liverpool until Monday ahead of Thursday night's Europa League victory over Lille. Liverpool believe that Riera has breached club discipline with his verbal assault on Benitez's management.

Riera has fallen out of favour at Liverpool this season, starting just nine Premier League games and three cup matches. He has suggested that a move to Russia, where the transfer window is currently still open, would interest him in a bid to make the plane for South Africa.

The 27-year-old, who last played for Spain in October's qualifier against Bosnia-Herzegovina, said: "I do not want to make trouble with the manager. I am not interested in making Rafa my enemy in the slightest, quite the opposite, but ultimately it is about playing and, if I am not, we have to talk about why not.

"We have not had any talk about why it is. I played all of last year, and sometimes if I did not play so well in one game, I would still play the next week. But this season I have not played at all.

"When that starts happening, you have to assume it is something personal rather than professional.

"I believe in these situations it is better to talk about it and try to fix it, or at least make sure everyone knows where they stand. I have no problem talking to people. I am delighted to play for Liverpool and, if I was playing, I would love to stay, because it is a brilliant place to play football.

"But if I am not playing I have no chance of going to the World Cup, so I am trying to solve the problem so I at least have a small chance.''

Benitez will be keen to draw a line under the matter on Monday, with a fine the very least Riera can expect, although the Reds boss was remaining tight-lipped over the controversy after the win over Lille.

"The timing was not the best for the team and we will deal with this internally,'' was all Benitez would say on the matter.

I know I've posted one of Spanish mate's opinions when we bought him saying that he usually starts well and fades at whichever club hes been to, but in the same Q&A he also said that he eventually becomes a troublemaker too.

Looks like this isn't anything new with Albert Riera at all, so wouldn't hold too much weight on the actual content of his comments.

Yup. Apparently he got into a fight with Patches and punched him when he did not release the ball or something.

Yossi's ex-Mossad. He knows the pressure points and everything. He may look like a shaved Chihuahua, but Yossi keeps the ball because the person who tells him he can't is going to be his bitch.

True story dat.

That explains why we've never seen Yossi with severe facial bruising on match days!
