Yep, a friendly against Wigan in July is definitely the time to come to this conclusion. God you're fucking insufferable these days.

Realism is tough for some I guess.

We haven't addressed the majority of our weaknesses yet. Nothing wrong with pointing that out. Hopefully we do before the season starts and ideally soon so they can actually get a pre season learning Klopps style.

Realism is tough? Fuck.Me. The fucking irony.

It's July 16th, we're not likely to be going into the season without making further additions, and an otch-botch side in a friendly tells us fuck all. I know it's an age old cliche, but it's about getting fit and having a look at players. We haven't even put out an XI resembling anything like what will start the season.

25-man squad for the Hong Kong trip:

GK: Mignolet, Karius, Ward
CB: Matip, Lovren, Klavan, Gomez
FB: Clyne, Alexander-Arnold, Milner, Moreno, Flanagan
CM: Henderson, Lallana, Wijnaldum, Grujic, Stewart
WF: Coutinho, Salah, Kent, Woodburn
CF: Firmino, Sturridge, Origi, Solanke

Wow, now that's what I call a midfield.
Marscherano, Gerrard, Alonso and Sissoko ain't got shit on those guys.

Based on the below we will seriously need to get active.

Mane and Can are also missing from that 25 man squad. Mane will start full training again in a few days, Can is still on holiday.

Does he still have a future with us?

I'd say it's 60:40 he leaves. I think the club still rate him highly, but also know he's unlikely in the near future to play more than a few cup games. His agent is very keen to move him on, and is against him signing a new contract. I think the lad himself would like to stay but obviously could be swayed by the promise of regular football elsewhere.

I read that we plan to loan him out again but wanted him to sign a contract extension first while he wanted assurances about his future at the club.

On a side note, we probably haven't handled his loan moves well for his development too.

Haven't catch the preseason matches. Is Woodburn being groomed for a midfielder/attacking midfielder role?

If I was Brannagan and had a decent opportunity elsewhere, I'd go.

He's 21 now - what are the odds him of breaking into the first team proper here? Slim to none.

By all accounts Kent had a decent spell on loan last season in the Championship - most "key passes" in the league or some shit - and he'll be lucky to get a look in.

He's played deep against tranmere was a bit more advanced against Wigan but still deeper than I think most expected

I don't know if Klopp is trying to develop his all round game, but he seems to have appeared in every position but his favoured role, which seems a bit counter-productive.
