My initial thought when I read the news this morning.
At last.
We don't need players who doesn't want to play for us. It's been ruining the mood in and around the team I'm sure, I certainly don't remember such a lacklustre performance as the one against Citeh and for now I'll primarily blame Masher for this.
It's onwards and upwards from here and though he's a great loss as a player (when he wants to play) he's nowhere near beeing irreplacable. Remember that six teams finished ahead of last year in the Prem and none of them had Masher in their team!
Hopefully we've received close to £25M and hopefully we've lined up two players - a very good and expensive LB in the Johnson mould. And a young and hopeful striker who can hold up the ball as well as score shitloads of goals when needed.
I don't know much about Toivonen or Wolfendinkel but at least they seem big, strong and goal-scoring.
For the LB position I'd be pleased if we could get our hands on someone like David Luiz, Coentrao, Taiwo or Cissokho. In that mould at least. Should this fail we could steal FC Copenhagen left back Oscar Wendt for a fee in the region of £4M. He'd do a job and could turn into a really good player for us.
This could all turn out in our favour still - make us a more solid and balanced unit from a squad perspective.
